Rick Cycle Shop
We sell and repair bicycles and bicycling accessories. With both new and preloved stock, stop in!
Founded in 1898, Rick Cycle is the oldest bike shop in Buffalo and one of the oldest in the United States. We carry Raleigh, Fuji, Diamondback, SE, Torker, and Redline bikes alongside a large selection of used bikes (just ask to see The Basement). We have all the accessories you need and, with a focus on fixing rather than replacing, we will take on even the toughest jobs when it comes to bicycle repair.
We’ll see you all on Tuesday!
I know we love a good RECOVERY STORYYYYYY
Another stolen bike returned to its owner! Only one year and 17 days later, but who’s counting?
If you know Seafood Dan, you know his unconditional love for this here GT Gutterball, and we love to see them together again at last 💕
Lola (bike) has been through a lot in her time and has changed hands all over the city of Buffalo, but we suspect she’ll be nice and comfortable with Dan for the rest of her days.
Another win (or tie) under the belt ✅
Thank you Buffalo Spree for having us and all of the food vendors for filling our tummies with some tasty treats
RECOVERED!
Few things in this world are as satisfying as returning a stolen bike to its rightful owner.
Shout out to our star employee for the harrowing recovery he undertook while on a coffee run for the shop. Making it back with the stolen bike, while riding the shop bike and carrying 4 coffees.
Shout out to .cafe for their assistance
And congratulations to on getting his bike back
Meet at the shop 🤝 Ride to Ridge
10am meet up time as normal, come prepared (lights/helmets/locks)
Voted Rick employees’ favorite bar since the very beginning
COLLECTING MEMORIES OF THE OLD PINK: We were saddened with the rest of Buffalo to learn about the loss of The Old Pink in a devastating fire earlier this week. We looked back in our records and found that there had been a bar in that building at Allen and Mariner Streets since at least 1898! The building itself dated back to the mid 1860s.
We know that bar held generations of stories and memories – and we want to hear from you to collect and preserve them. Share your memories and photos from the Old Pink at the link below as we work to create a historical record about this legendary bar!

Going through "the archives" doing some research on a local rider from the 1930s and 1940s. A small collection of 6 Day Race programs, most from the Broadway Auditorium in Buffalo. Some even bearing penciled autographs of some of the racers.
Six Day Races were exactly what they sounded like. Not allowed by law to race on Sunday, usually teams of 2 (one racing the other resting) would start racing at 12:01 on Monday morning and go until midnight the following Saturday. The winners being the team who traveled the farthest, regularly in excess of 1,200 miles.
A lot of these races in Buffalo were held at the. Broadway Auditorium located near Broadway and Michigan Ave. A repurposed NY National Guard arsenal built in 1858, the City of Buffalo used it as a sports arena from 1913 until 1940. The building still stands today, used as a DoT warehouse. It was announced in 2023 that the redevelopment of the building back into a sports complex was started.
Happy to hand over this fresh build to our friend Andy Gonzalez

'Where did you get those deals?
From the Tooth Fairy!'
We got some deals for you. This Saturday only!
Today we handed over this pre WWII Westfield Columbia built Hudson Racer.
Originally sold here in Buffalo by Steering Bicycles and Sporting Goods in 1940, this bike is in amazing rideable shape.
The paint and decals really shine on this. With original gold box pinstriping (done by hand). Super clear "Racer" and original Steering Bicyle Shop water transfers. Along with the very patriotic styled Columbia Bicycles logo on the seat tube.
The wheels are metal clad hickory wood ment for Single Tube tires. They are similar to sew up tubular by being glued ont the rim, but almost impossible to repair if a flat occurs due to the completely encased tube. These tires having been phased out of use in the late 1930s early 40s. We had to go to a gentleman in West Virginia who hand makes these tires, one at a time spending 3 days on each.
The sadle, original to the bike, has a date stamping of 1940 on the underside. The leather is still supple.
Neat to think thanks to the tires being made in West Virginia this bicycle is completely made in America.
This was a very enjoyable bike to refurbish. We really need to remember to take before pictures next time.
