Our Cyprus Math Masters 6th Grade team competed for the first time in Burnsville today and won 4th place as a team! Also, one of the team members went home with a ribbon for placing 6th in the individual rounds! Congratulations to our Math Masters team!

Our Cyprus Math Masters 4th Grade team competed for the first time in Burnsville and won 2nd place as a team! Two students earned medals for placing 10th and 4th in the individual rounds, and one of our students earned a medal for placing 3rd in the fact drill.

We are continuing the tradition of Cyprus Academy Adopting a Family for the Holidays! Each year Cyprus, in coordination with leadership at the Women’s Advocates Shelter in St. Paul, receives the names, ages, needs, wants and wishes of a family that is temporarily housed inside the shelter and without outside assistance will not have any normal holiday celebration this year.
This year, Cyprus was asked if we could adopt a family of 9. For safety reasons and the keeping of anonymity we cannot learn anything specific to this family other than the names, genders and ages BUT according to K Anderson, shelter administrator, who is so happy Cyprus agreed to take this family on since they are “so sweet”.
We have published a sign-up genius for you to review and choose which item(s) you would like to help with. Please follow your heart and let’s make this year better for a family who truly needs an assist.
The items are grouped starting with what were listed as “Needs” and then we move to the “Wants”. This family was told by the Administrator that they should let their wishes be known as well so some of the items asked for were fairly expensive, such as bikes, Electronic Game players etc. Since most of the items on this list could be obtained at Target or Best Buy, we added the option to purchase some Gift Cards for these locations which the mom can use to buy them.
Please note that these items need to be received at Cyprus (190 Cobblestone Lane, Burnsville MN 55337) by Friday November 2nd since we need to bring them to the shelter on Monday December 5th. If you order something online please select this address as your "ship to" and add "Adopt a Family" if possible. If not, don't worry, we'll figure it out!
The rules are that each item must be New In Box and unwrapped. The shelter will work with Mom to help with the wrapping and labeling. For this event we are unable to bring anything that is used.
Thanks for helping make this a magical time for people who are going through some struggles.

Today we had our Pi Day competition to see who could recite the most digits of pi. 1/3 of our students participated! Our overall winner recited 327 digits! 2nd place winner recited 203 digits, and our 3rd place winner overall recited 140 digits! Also of note was our Super K winner reciting 82 digits of pi! Great job, Cyprus Classical Academy Students!

Online & On-Site Cyprus Classical Academy students had a great time on their field trip to iFLY! Local students went to iFLY in Minneapolis to learn the science of flight and had the opportunity to fly in the wind tunnel. At the same time, online students participated in IFLY's virtual field trip then watched their on-site friends fly in the wind tunnel. Our Complete Story
History of Cyprus Schools
2005
Cyprus Classical Montessori was founded by Michelle Wallick and opened its doors in a church room on the border of Burnsville and Lakeville. Inspired by the lack of available options for quality early childhood education for her toddler and a life-long history and love of teaching young children, Michelle opened a unique preschool - one that combines the philosophy of a Classical education and Montessori preschool, with an academic focus on acquiring and expanding reading skills and building foundational math skills. This new philosophy exposes students to new worlds of information every day and gives them an excellent foundation for elementary school.
2007
The preschool grew out of the small church room and moved to its current location on County Rd. 5 and Burnsville Parkway, in Burnsville. Cyprus Classical Montessori now has three large classrooms, and is able to accommodate more students!
2010
After developing a popular high-quality and ability-based pre-K and Kindergarten classroom, Michelle realized that the school was attracting high-ability children who were progressing much beyond a typical kindergarten curriculum, and also knew that typical school pacing and curriculum would not serve the needs of many of Cyprus' students. The school took on more of the space in the same building and Cyprus Classical Academy was founded, an ability-based, (rather than age-based) school for gifted and talented students. That same year, Cyprus School of Music and the Arts was founded and began to offer extra-curricular classes and instrument lessons to preschoolers and elementary students.
2012
Cyprus Classical Montessori won the Sun Newspaper's Reader's Choice Award for the best Montessori school for the first time.
Cyprus Classical Academy expanded again and acquired the use of the entire building, allowing for the preschool to have use of a library, a music room, and a gym. Cyprus Classical Montessori serves students through kindergarten. Cyprus Classical Academy serves advanced, gifted and talented children from 4 years old through 8th grade. Cyprus School of Music and the Arts now teaches over 100 lessons per week and offers over 25 extracurricular classes per week to our students and the community, ages 3 - Adult in STEM, Music, Art, Drama, and various other subjects.
2013
Cyprus Classical Montessori became accredited by NAEYC, a national organization that requires us to meet rigorous early childhood education standards and guidelines for high-quality care. Becoming an accredited school is a voluntary commitment that can take up to two years to complete. It involves intensive self-study and meeting high standards throughout.
2015
Cyprus Classical Academy started its Super K Program in conjunction with Cyprus Classical Montessori to provide an ability based education to gifted pre-K and Kindergarten students.
Cyprus Classical Montessori won the Sun Newspaper's Reader's Choice Award for Best Montessori School for the second time.
2016
Cyprus Classical Montessori won the 2016 Sun Newspaper's Reader's Choice Award for Best Montessori School for the third time!
2018
Cyprus Classical Montessori initiates its advanced preschool class, allowing preschoolers who love academics and are excelling at an early age.
