STRAWBERRIES!!

Juicy, red fruits that are so versatile and satisfying! You can throw them into a salad, smoothie, or just eat them raw.

How do you pick them?
Always choose the most red, least discolored berry with a sweet, strong smell with fresh green caps. Unlike bananas, strawberries no longer ripen once picked.

Best way to Store?
Be certain, like all fruits and vegetables, you fully wash them to remove any potential pesticides. WAIT! Don't clean them until ready to use, as they absorb the water. If you must clean them prior, dry them, place them on a paper cloth and store them in the refrigerator.

SALT: Good or Bad??

Salt is "BAD" for blood pressure! But is it? The body needs sodium to function. Our TABLE SALT" has iodized sodium which IS bad for blood pressure. However, salt is necessary. There are options!

REFRESHING Strawberry-Turkey Salad
Ingredients
5 ounces fresh baby spinach (about 6 cups)
2 cups julienned cooked turkey breast
2 cups sliced fresh strawberries
1 small sweet yellow pepper, julienned
4 green onions, sliced
Dressing:
1/4 cup red wine vinegar
3 tablespoons olive oil
2 tablespoons water
4 teaspoons honey
1/2 teaspoon dried minced onion
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper

Directions
Place the first 5 ingredients in a large bowl. Place dressing ingredients in a jar with a tight-fitting lid; shake well. Drizzle over salad; toss to combine. Serve immediately.

Nutrition Facts
1-3/4 cups: 260 calories, 12g fat (2g saturated fat), 56mg cholesterol, 397mg sodium, 17g carbohydrate (11g sugars, 3g fiber), 23g protein. Diabetic Exchanges: 3 lean meat, 1 vegetable, 1/2 fruit, 2 fat.
