"Have you heard of TMS therapy? It's a non-invasive treatment option for depression and other mental health conditions that uses magnetic fields to stimulate specific areas of the brain. Exciting advancements in the field are making TMS more accessible and effective! "
Depression can feel like the weight of the world on your shoulders. No obstacle is insurmountable if you reach out for help and support.
TMS is a noninvasive form of brain stimulation that uses magnetic pulses to stimulate neurons (brain cells) in specific parts of the brain. This leads to ‘awakening’ of parts of the brain that are inactive in depression. Through a process called ‘neuroplasticity’, the brain begins to go through structural and functional changes, which allows the brain to alter in a way that eliminates symptoms of depression and other mental illnesses.
What is TMS therapy?
In 2008, the FDA approved the use of transcranial magnetic stimulation, TMS, as a treatment for major depression. It was proven to be a medically safe and effective solution for treatment-resistant depression as well as other mental disorders.

“The birth of a baby can trigger a jumble of powerful emotions, from excitement and joy to fear and anxiety. But it can also result in something you might not expect — depression.
Most new moms experience postpartum "baby blues" after childbirth, which commonly include mood swings, crying spells, anxiety and difficulty sleeping. Baby blues typically begin within the first two to three days after delivery, and may last for up to two weeks.
But some new moms experience a more severe, long-lasting form of depression known as .Rarely, an extreme mood disorder called postpartum psychosis also may develop after childbirth.
Postpartum depression isn't a character flaw or a weakness. Sometimes it's simply a complication of giving birth. If you have postpartum depression, prompt treatment can help you manage your symptoms and help you bond with your baby.” (Info provided by Mayo Clinic https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/postpartum-depression/symptoms-causes/syc-20376617 )

Thinking about TMS? Here is an excerpt from a patient’s own account from the therapy.
“I lived in a world where there was no escape from the daily worry of self-harm and persistent sadness.
I lived in a world where I had to manufacture a false smile when I could burst into tears, pretending to be happy so I wouldn’t worry my husband who knew of my depression and who felt helpless to do anything about it.
I lived in a world where I felt constant guilt that I simply didn’t have the ability to embrace his love because my brain refused to operate in a way that made it possible, constantly afraid I would once again lose my will to live.
Then a miracle happened. I discovered a magazine ad for TMS with the headline: “Treat Depression Without Medications”. I made an appointment with a psychiatrist to learn more and to see if I was a likely candidate for TMS. The verdict was “yes”.
Did you know that 1/3 of people suffer from treatment resistant depression? Some people never find relief from antidepressant medication. For others, the challenging side effects of medications like weight gain, outweigh the benefits.
Sometimes it takes years to find the best treatment.
Roughly 65,000 people have been treated by TMS. TMS is a revolutionary depression treatment. If you are interested and want to see if you are candidate call our office today!
