Nathan Hill of the University of Massachusetts - Dartmouth is back for his second internship with the O’Connor Corporation as a Mechanical Engineering Summer Intern.

Nathan is a rising Senior at UMass-Dartmouth who chose to study Mechanical Engineering after recognizing his mechanical aptitude and his interest and comprehension of the physical sciences. Nathan has been supporting O’Connor’s Project Managers on several important ongoing projects and proposal efforts.

Nathan is shown here in front of the drawings he prepared for Line Boring Trials where O’Connor Corporation will be Line Boring through three plates totaling 7.5 inches thick. Pictured here, Nathan is also standing next to the 3-axis CNC milling machine that is prepping the preliminary holes that will be enlarged using a Climax BB5000 Portable Line Boring tool to make the holes in the three plates concentric to a cylindricity tolerance of 1.5 thousandths of an inch. For these Line Boring Trials, Nathan has also prepared the qualification documentation to record and validate the qualification process and the personnel performing the process.

: This Spring, O'Connor Corporation Boilermakers and Beacon Piping Pipefitters collaborated to install 8 fresh air cooled heat exchangers, gearing up for this Summer season.

Boilermakers install and maintain boiler systems in industries such as electric power plants, refineries, and steel mills. Boilermakers also forge tools for industry use. Work is frequently done at great heights or confined spaces, often using core skills such as welding, rigging, and fabrication.

to last year when O'Connor Corporation collaborated with Beacon Piping Company to finish a stack removal project. O'Connor Boilermakers removed and capped the stack above the roof line and installed a cap for the AHU duct that had been demolished.
