Pre-Primary summer campers started summer by preparing our garden for eggplant, zucchini, tomato and pepper plants as we pull weeds and spread soil. In the classroom, we are learning about the life cycle of plants and nutrition.

The Sun Room friends have started summer off by exploring our wonderful ocean. They have been learning about the Coral Reef, Sea shells and the wonderful Ocean Animals like the whale, octopus, sting Rays, and the beautiful Sea Turtles. We continue to water and watch our vegetable garden, and flowers grow.

Last week, Pre-Primary summer campers participated in our annual bike a thon. Students learn about bike safety while riding laps to raise money for the Canton Ex Newsboys. Thank you to the Newsies and CMS parents for cheering on our riders and walkers and for your generous donations. We raised over $1300 to help clothe children in need in Stark County

Summer Camp is off to a Roaring good start in the Garden Room! The children are busy being Paleontologist and discovering Dinosaur bones in our sensory bin, following dinosaur pattern work, and reading books. This week will learn about the difference between a herbivore and a carnivore.

We have also welcomed a new friend to our environment and the children love helping them adjust and with any tasks. I love that Montessori is about kindness towards others.

Students in the Sun Room wrapped up the school year with a visit from Myrtle the Turtle as part of their study on pond turtles.

Lower Elementary students studied the life cycle of birds by incubating chicken eggs in the classroom. We learned about embryonic development inside the egg over the course of 21 days. Once the chicks hatched, we collected and recorded data on their growth and visible changes. Most importantly, we delighted in how adorable baby chicks are!

Yesterday CMS celebrated the accomplishments of Ella and Zander with our final 6th Grade Recognition Ceremony. Planned by their fellow classmates moving on to the CMS Middle School and Upper Elementary friends. We are so proud of their accomplishments and know will continue to do fantastic things! Congratulations Ella and Zander!!

On Monday our Lower Elementary 3rd students had the opportunity to chose an Upper Elementary “mentor” to show them how to manage the Upper Elementary work cycle. They all did an outstanding job and have proven that they are ready for 4th Grade!

Upper Elementary students were "locked in" overnight for a fun-filled evening of food, games, and dancing organized by our 6th graders. We had a variety of activities such as Hide-n-Seek, Just Dance, an escape room, trivia quiz bowl, classic board games, flashlight tag and ended the evening with a movie. Our Upper Elementary classroom became the ultimate slumber party spot!

Special thank you to Sophia's mom Rachel and Bryan for making a delicious breakfast. Ms. Kim and Dr. Emily for staying the night on air mattresses with our amazing Upper Elementary students.

It was such a memorable experience for all and what a great way for the 6th graders to say goodbye to Upper Elementary!

Spring Fling 2024 was a huge success! We raised almost $24,000 to support student scholarships and programming, thanks to our generous sponsors, donors, attendees, and volunteers. Thank you for believing in the power a Montessori education can have on our children!

Our Lower and Upper Elementary students participated in our annual Science Day at Arboretum Park on Wednesday. Couldn't have picked a better day to enjoy the great weather and science!

Kindergarten students enjoyed a kinder concert by the Canton Symphony Orchestra in early April. The Bass and French horn were kindergarten favorites.
At the end of April, we spread joy and cheer to the residents at the assisted living facility, the Inn at Belden Village. Students and residents sang and read, painted and planted together. Memories created ... priceless.

On Wednesday our Lower Elementary 3rd graders organized and hosted our annual "Poetry Recital" on Wednesday. Lower Elementary students recited poetry for the Upper Elementary class. Our third graders were responsible for planning and implementing the event, including serving tea for their guests!

Students in Lower Elementary are excited to learn about the upcoming total solar eclipse through reading passages, art, poetry, and hands-on materials. We can't wait to report back and share our experiences!

Loft students learned about the solar eclipse and had the opportunity to build their own eclipse mobile. They also got to be the “Sun” and create the eclipse using a flashlight.
