For the Week of the Young Child we have spirit week. Every day we dress differently.

Wednesday our theme was Team Day. NAEYC's theme was Team Building.

Today was wear black and white clothing to celebrate the eclipse. The children also watched a video about the eclipse from NASA , followed by a special treat of a drumstick (vanilla with chocolate covering).

January 4th, 11:20 a.m.-

Good morning!

The power is out at school. We believe a transformer blew.

The children are fine.

We have light from the windows as well as battery operated candles if it gets dim.

We have heat. It comes from a boiler and the thermostats have back up battery power.

Water comes from Aqua. We have running water and functioning toilets.

School will dismiss at the normal time.

The light at Perry and 12th is functioning. I do not know about other traffic lights.

Monday was our annual butter making day. The children were surprised at the amount of effort it took. And how long!

Our finished bread! Each child had two loaves to take home.

Tuesday we held our annual bread baking day. For the second year families joined their children. It was an amazing experience

Thank you to Miss Julia and Miss Claire from Stark Library for coming to our school! They read a fun story about a frog. They brought a big parachute for us to play with. It was a lot of fun!

We are beginning to learn about apples. After reading the apple issue of My Big World, we listed some of the foods made from apples. Then the children told us which was their favorite.
