We are here to discuss one of the most FAQ here at the paint store…
❓”Do I have to do two coats of paint?”❓

The answer is (with a few exceptions..) 🚨YES!!🚨

We promise we are not trying to make more work for you or sell you more paint. The reasoning behind needing 2 coats of finish coat is simple: SCIENCE! The chemistry of paint is meant to be so thick on a surface, even with the use of a primer beforehand!
If you apply your coats too thin or only apply one finish coat, there is just not enough paint on the surface, and issues will arise such as marring (chalkboard like finish leaving lots of fingerprints) and peeling. If you notice your surface looks and feels like a chalkboard and leaves lots of residue behind, or if your paint is peeling off of a surface easily, there’s not enough paint!!

In conclusion, 2 coats of paint are almost always required!! Stop in to chat with the experts on the proper way to handle your next project!!

💡PRIMER 101 - When to use oil based vs water based primers💡

In today’s world, oil based primer isn’t as necessary to use as some may think. Here are the instances where using oil based is beneficial:
📌Wood surfaces, especially exterior, to block wood tannins from coming through
📌Smoke and pet odor/stains and water stains
📌Under enamel finishes

Oil based primer has excellent pe*******on, but dries very hard and stiff - you ❌DO NOT❌ want to use oil based primer on galvanized metal, aluminum, or plastic as these substrates are more flexible and cracking will occur.
