One of the great ones has transitioned

GERRY….

I’ve had to write too many good-bye’s lately, but this one I’m trying to do through a steady flow of tears.
GERRY CLUM HAS PASSED

We met at Palmer and were immediately friends. More so, we were warriors and the battles we fought for Principled chiropractic would span 50+ years. Never once did I ever wonder, worry or doubt that if Gerry was in the room, that the chiropractic I loved was going to be defended. It was a trust that was never once broken. We fought the “drugs in chiropractic” battles in New Mexico, the “saving of Life U” from the jaws of CCE being inappropriately used by evil political forces, helped establish a beachhead for TIC philosophy in Europe from the medipractor’s who controlled the ECU, and a 1000 other defining moments in a half century of our profession. Gerry did the work. Gerry was always in the lion’s den. Gerry held every position of leadership in our profession. Gerry was always “there” and I can still hear him chant the words, at the most critical times in the battle, “Make them play by their own rules.” He did and he humbly won for us all.

But all of that, for this brief moment before we start celebrating all he accomplished, seems unimportant to me, because right now I miss my friend, my brother. My heart is in my throat and I can hardly breath. When I got the news I immediately broke down and my dog, Dante, could sense the grief; he came and stared right into my eyes/soul and then laid down next to me with his head on my chest. I think the 1000’s of us who were impacted by Gerry will all need to do that for each other in the weeks to come.

Gerry, we love you and are happy to know you’re free of a body that was a burden to you these last few years. The battle is over. It’s time for you to rest and be at peace. What a life. What a life, well lived. I’ll see you on the other side when the time is right.

It is with a very heavy heart that we share with you about the loss of Dr Joshua Martens. As many of you know, Dr Martens was killed in an auto accident on August 16, 2022. Dr Martens, you were an amazing doctor, wonderful father, and great kind man to all. You have touched countless of lives including your family, many friends, your work family, and many many patients. Your life was cut too short. We will miss you dearly.
