⭐Volunteer Spotlight⭐

Meet Linda:
Linda is a retired physical therapist of 30+ years, where she incorporated hippotherapy into her treatments! She also has 20 years of executive director experience at therapeutic riding and hippotherapy centers. Pre-Covid, Linda was a PRN here at TherAplay and also volunteered briefly as a horse handler when the barn needed help!
Something people may be surprised to learn about Linda is that she enjoys writing! Linda started volunteering here at TherAplay about 7 or 8 years ago. Linda said she started volunteering here so she could stay involved with hippotherapy.
During her free time, Linda enjoys volunteering, riding horses and bikes, walking, kayaking, reading, traveling, and dog training. Linda serves TherAplay as a sidewalker, TAAG volunteer, and has recently joined the volunteer committee! Linda does not have a specific favorite memory, just enjoys seeing the kids progress over time.

Another year, another fun and successful Mudsock Fest!

⭐Volunteer Spotlight⭐

Meet Lori:
Lori is a retired pediatric RN and started volunteering at Children’s TherAplay in 2011 after moving from Arizona. Lori had volunteered at therapeutic riding barns there and decided to get involved here. Lori has been sidewalking in the same time slot for years; by coming at the same time she gets to know the kids and watch them progress toward their goals. It allows her to appreciate their cheer and accomplishments, no matter how small. Volunteer grooming gives her the opportunity to be close to my favorite four legged friends. People may be surprised to learn she also volunteers at the NICU at Ascension cuddling babies!
Lori also watches her grandson a few days a week, enjoys Zumba classes and periodically going to Charlotte, North Carolina to visit her 20-month-old granddaughter. Her husband also recently retired so she is looking forward to traveling more (they just returned from Paris)!

Please note we will still be open for all therapies!

Each horse break, we introduce a new theme of the week, and this quarter will be a beach themed water week!🏖️

The kids will love the new activities such as water balloons, rock painting, and more which will help improve engagement and progress towards our functional goals!

Please make sure your kiddos are dressed accordingly and in clothes they don't mind getting wet.🌊
