Happy Labor Day, people. Special shoutout to all the mechanics.

Our sixth and final day of boot camp was dedicated to putting principle into practice. All nine of our athletes participated in flying 200m and standing 500m timed efforts in a simulated race setting. We continue to be amazed at the ease of adaptation and arc of progress with the proper attention and resources. This group is living proof.

Today we started, we reviewed, we started some more, and we broke it down, and we started even more…

Afternoon sesh. Pace lines, blue lines, black lines, track lines, wind-ups, drop-ins…the rhythm and feel of a velodrome; a velodrome at speed. This velodrome. Site of LA28

Before suiting up, yesterday covered mechanical basics including the art and science of gearing, self-reliance, and the results that come by minding the details.

Just like their women counterparts the day before, yesterday we introduced our newest select men to their bikes, kits, rollers, and the track. Today we move to our combined group setting and move into the real world of track sprinting.

And just like that our newest group of elite women are kitted up, bike fitted, and on the banks. These are exciting times and we will introduce our men’s group to the same process beginning tomorrow. On Sunday our groups merge and will go through five informative and intense days together. We will continue to document the orientation and integration process here.

Here is a glimpse into some of the goodness that was yesterday’s USA Cycling open combine at the Velo Sports Center — our fifth so far this year.

The athletic talent and desire to compete in this part of the world and throughout the country is undeniable, and yesterday was one more crystal clear example.

LA28 is one day closer than it was yesterday…

This weekend we will host our fifth open combine of 2024. Next weekend our newest wave of athletes begin their introduction to this amazing sport. Following all of the incredible cycling and track success in Paris, and looking ahead to LA28, the inspiration and energy around here is pinned.

Still buzzing over last week and the impact and success our program athletes had at the 2024 Elite & Para Track Cycling National Championships 🔥🔥🔥

NEXT UP: The announcement of our newest crop of Talent Integration invitees.

TRACK NATIONALS: Eighteen months ago we launched this talent ID program. Over the next six months we tested over 2100 people with the intention of finding raw talent capable of grooming into track sprinters. What followed was three select, invite-only combines that funneled into another selection which graduated an even smaller group to our Talent Integration phase. From there five athletes emerged, all of whom moved into the National training environment. Seven months later…

…these five — & — all competed in the 2024 Elite & Para National Championships over the weekend and each thrived. While somewhat split up due to various team make-ups, our alumni were driving forces in their respective Team Sprint results.

Massive congratulations to and on silver in the Elite (M) Team Sprint; on bronze in the same; and on bronze on the Elite (W) Team Sprint. 🔥🔥🔥

Up next: The above group continues to work and train with the National sprint pool as we get ready to announce the next crop of Talent Integration athletes in just a few days.

Earlier this month, Search for Speed hosted its final combine for 2024. 53 athletes completed a series of tests for a chance to move on to the Talent Integration Phase.

USA Cycling Announces Olympic Games Paris 2024 Track… | USA Cycling Six athletes have been selected to represent the United States in the Women’s Team Pursuit, Women’s Madison, Women’s Omnium, and Men's Omnium
