We were thrilled to host this group of Gardena-Carson Family YMCA youngsters yesterday as each of them successfully took to the track for the very first time!

After being fitted with a bike and helmet including an introduction to the nuisances of a fixed gear, session coaches of Search for Speed + USA Cycling National Sprint Team pool athletes and shepherded the group through a variety of skills and drills. In less than an hour, every one of our riders was up on the banks doing full laps at speed. It was another amazing day of and we can’t wait to see these young rippers back here again very soon!

We were thrilled to host another amazing weekend of racing and total track cycling activity last Sat & Sun including the Foundation for American Track Cycling Juniors Rule! & Madison Cup events - both powered by Skunkworks Track Cycling - plus TTs and another USAC Search for Speed open combine. We love seeing kids on bikes including junior racing in general, and this Saturday should be a blast. Age groups include: 9-12, 13-14, and 15-16.

Same day racing will also include 2-person team action in the form of the Madison Cup Omnium (Scratch, TT, Points) brought to you by Foundation for American Track Cycling and p/b Skunkworks Track Cycling — a future formatting classic!

Brought to you by Skunkworks Track Cycling, Sun, Jun 2 is solely devoted to TTs including both Sprint and Endurance distances. With the 2024 USA Cycling Elite and Para-Cycling Track National Championships only five weeks later, this will be prime prep and a hotly contested competition.

USA Cycling Announces Paris 2024 Track Olympic Long Team | USA Cycling 12 athletes have been nominated to the Olympic Long Team for the Women’s Team Pursuit, Women’s Madison, Women’s Omnium, and Men’s Omnium

TRIVIA: A velodrome's length is measured at its black line. Ours is 250m around. The red line, which along with the black line creates the “sprinter’s lane”, is 1m outside of the black line all the way around.

Certified at the VSC but still a little bit nervous in a tight group? Perhaps you could use some real elbow-to-elbow track riding before committing to your first mass start event? Skunkworks Track Cycling Sunday School is the session designed to address exactly that. Join us!!

🇲🇽 Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at from 1-4pm! Sunday School is back this Sunday, May 5th!

The target audience is anyone new to track, so that includes nervous brand new riders AND speedy road/MTB/CX racers looking to shorten the time it takes them to master track racing. If you’re in the neighborhood at CBR in the morning, swing by for the session and get two rides out of your trip to Carson!

This session provides newer riders guidance from experienced volunteer leaders – if you’re interested in volunteering for one Sunday a month, please DM or email us at [email protected]

The session is free with a VSC monthly membership or a drop in fee of $15, which includes a bike rental if you need it.

Did you know that virtually ANYBODY can ride at the VELO Sports Center? If you can ride a bike, you can ride our track. It just takes a little understanding, practice, and nuance—especially in a group setting.

We offer:

Individual & Group SAMPLE Sessions:

For first-timers...the ones who just want to give the track a try. An individual sample session is $25 and takes about an hour. You get one-on-one instruction including full use of one of our loaner LOOK Cycle track bikes. By the end you will know if this is something you want to do again. But wait: Maybe you want to do this with a group of friends? If so, we offer a group rate (3hrs and up to 15 riders) for a flat $520. And if you happen to be part of an even bigger group, we can accommodate 16-25 people—also a 3hr session—for $620. That extra hundred bucks pays for a second instructor.

Individual & Group CERTIFICATION Sessions:

Also for beginners albeit the ones who have the track bug and want to be a certified VSC user. What is a certified VSC user? Think of it as a driver’s license to ride (or even race!) our track anytime. Individual certification is $270 and includes three (3) 2.5-3hr sessions plus use of one of our loaner LOOK Cycle track bikes. Now let’s say you have a group (up to 15) who want to do this? No problem. We offer a flat rate of $1200 for all the same service and final certifications. And if that group happens to be bigger (16-25) add another $100…that’s it. $1300 total. Whether you are simply bundling with friends, have a corporate team building event, whatever—we got you covered!

Already a seasoned roadie, or certified on another track, or feel you have the necessary cycling chops? We offer an ACCELERATED CERTIFICATION by appointment and pre-approval. Call our front desk or drop us a line if you think this is you.
