Each year, Hum Sub presents the Youth Achievement Award to honor outstanding youth in our community who excel in academics, extracurricular activities, and volunteering, fostering the next generation of leaders. With nearly 100 applications from across the state, selecting the winners is always a challenging task!

This year’s Youth Achievement Award winners are:

High School: 1st Prize - Soham Vaidya Gaonkar, 2nd Prize - Nachammai Annamalai
Middle School: 1st Prize - Rishikesh T Sankaran, 2nd Prize - Shashank Venkata Mantrala

We also recognized talented students with awards for the best essays on Diwali:

Middle School: 1st Prize - Yug Bele, 2nd Prize - Shreeya Pande
High School: 1st Prize - A***n Parikh, 2nd Prize - Radhya Luthra

Update: The event was such a success with so many people in attendance, lots of Q&A from the attendees, thank you all for attending!

At Hum Sub, sustainability is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to reducing our environmental impact through eco-friendly practices and waste reduction initiatives at all our events.
At our biggest event, Hum Sub Diwali - Festival of Lights 2024, for which we had almost 15000 people attend, we took steps to reduce waste by stacking used plates and containers at our Sustainability Stations. There were four collection stations This simple action helped minimize landfill space and saved trash bags. And the end result was – we collected the discards in EIGHT trash bags!! Yes, that is only EIGHT trash bags for a crowd of 15000!! This was accomplished with the help of our volunteers from Stacked- Green Initiative for Waste Management and volunteers from Hum Sub.

It was heartening to see everyone in attendance eager to learn more about this effort and to be a willing participant in this effort.

Like last year, we’re making a difference together by reducing waste and promoting eco-friendly practices! ♻️ Look out for our Sustainability Stations at the event by looking out for the green balloons, where we’ll be collecting and stacking takeout containers to reduce landfill space. Let’s keep the environment in mind and make this event as green as possible!

Bring a take out food container to be stacked and a reuseable water bottle to be entered into a raffle! Last year we collected 5hours worth of disposables in ONE trash bag! Let us see if we can beat that number!!

The Hum Sub Board of Directors, along with our Youth Ambassadors and esteemed guests Padma Shri Suresh Wadkar, songbird Padma Wadkar, and diva Pawani Pandey, alongside their talented musicians, are ready to welcome you to this year’s Diwali celebration on 12th Oct at Koka Booth Amphitheatre!
