We sang, we danced, we read, we played, we explored and we laughed. What a great week at Summer Camp!

We sang, we danced, we built, we created. In other words we played hard! What a great time we had during our 2nd week of summer camp. Of course, we had to end our week with popsicles! We can't wait to see what fun we have next week!

It is hard to believe that Week 1 of summer camp is already complete. This week just flew by! We played, we read, we made mud, we played with boxes, we cleaned every inch of the playground (it is amazing what happens when you put out some soapy water and sponges), we played some more, we read more stories, we built towers, we made a car wash, and so much more! We finished out the week with some yummy Popsicles as a special treat.

Happy 1st day of Summer Camp!!! We had a wonderful time. We got to see old friends and make new ones. We played, we sang, and we played some more! We watered our pumpkin and sunflower plants using sponges as we played in water tables and made mud. Our bigger friends taught our smaller friends some new skills. Most importantly we had a blast and can't wait for a repeat day tomorrow!

What do teachers do when school is out for Summer? They go to Shake Shack! Thank you to Shawn and the amazing Shake Shack Crew for treating us to a relaxing and delicious lunch!

Happy Last Day of School!!!! What better way to celebrate this amazing year and all the growth our friends have made than to have a Genesis Day Beach Party! We sang songs, we danced, we played outside (and cleaned everything in sight - even the mulch!), we found roly poly bugs, we drew on the floor, built with blocks, and played in bins full of sand and rice, and took cooling off breaks to read some books. A truly wonderful way to end our time together this year. We hope that everyone has a fabulous summer!

We released the butterflies!

This week we really made a SPLASH as we explored the ocean for our STEAM Friday fun! We made fish that could "swim", we created shark pictures, we explored the buoyancy of sharks, we experimented with how submarines go up and down in the water, and we graphed ocean animals. It is hard to believe this was our last STEAM Friday of the year. It has been so much fun exploring that we look forward to our Friday's each and every week.

It has been wild on the playground! Rabbits, Cicadas and Tree Frogs! The Angelfish Class got to see all of them today!

We BLASTED off into SPACE for STEAM Friday this week. We talked about how craters came to be on the moon. We made our very own flying saucers and talked about what we thought the aliens in our saucers looked like. We made bottle rockets and talked about where we would like to go if we could blast off into space. We talked about the stars making pictures called constellations and then we made constellations of our own and projected them on the wall. We rounded out our time by playing Space Crusade working on our Math Skills. We also had some visitors today. One of our friends helped rescue a turtle that was in the road. The turtle hung out with us today and then went back with our friend to be returned to the wild near where it was found. We also had a lizard come and join us as we were playing today. It was quite friendly and let us get a good look at him.

It was the Pond Life for us for STEAM Friday. We made Frog rockets, jumping frogs, frog fly catchers, made paper lilies and watched them unfold when placed in water, and we made frogs jump around the lily pads. After all of that fun we became frogs and counted how many frog jumps it would take us to get across the room. A hopping good time was had by all!

What do you do on a day where several teachers and the director are out because their children our graduating from college? You PARTY!!!!! Oops, I mean you have a Genesis Day! What a fun Genesis Day it was ESPECIALLY since Pastor Shawn and Ms. Kim from the church staff came to play with us! Also, a very special thanks to our Subs for helping us out today!

What better way to end the week than to have a GENESIS DAY!!!! It was so beautiful we decided outside was the place to be. We started off with a dance party, had a bubble party, and then got to explore our world! If friends got too hot or needed a break from outside they came inside and colored the world!

What better way to celebrate Earth Day than to have a Maker Space with lots of recyclable and natural items to create with! We had so much fun and made so many creative things - a watermelon, a telescope, a tall gift, necklaces, faces, a plate with food, a farm, a bed, a blaster, and a dresser drawer to hold all the things just to name a few.

This week at Genesis Preschool has been an amazing week! We have been watching a mama bunny take care of her nest outside the playground! This morning baby bunny hopped into the playground to see what was happening! Luckily, Ms. Charisse was able to scoop him up and return him to the nest. Mama Bunny was grateful!

We had a ferociously fun time learning about Animals for our STEAM Friday this week. We learned why cat eyes shine in the dark. We learned that bird beaks are different shapes depending on what kind of food they eat. We learned how bats use echolocation to navigate at night and played hungry, hungry turtles. We sorted and classified animals several different ways and we made sneaky snakes!

Thank you Town of Cary Firefighters for visiting us today! We had so much fun learning about fire safety and all the truck's equipment!

It was all about the DINOSAURS today for our STEAM Friday focus. We measured dinosaurs and played Hungry, Hungry, Dino, we freed our dinosaurs from the ice using salt, we created our very own models of dinosaurs, we made a fizzy erupting volcano, we made an underwater volcano by watching what happens when cold and warm water meet, and we made our very own dinosaur fossil! We had a ROARING good time!

Last month some of our preschool art was displayed at the Capital Towers Senior Living! This is what they had to say about it:

It was all about Easter Eggs and Bunny Tails for our EASTER STEAM Friday! We tried to determine the best types of materials to keep an egg from breaking. We tried a variety of materials from Newspaper to Bubble Wrap to Pom Poms. We tested eggs placed in a bag with the materials and we dropped eggs into a bin holding the material. We made predictions and then dropped the egg to find out if our predictions were correct. After dropping all the eggs we played some Easter Games. First up - stick the tail on the bunny! Next we passed the egg using only spoons. Lastly we raced with giant eggs between our knees. It was a hopping good time!

What better way to celebrate Spring and Easter than to have a Genesis Day! We Chicken Danced, Boom Chicka Boomed, and rode a Roller Coaster. We went on an egg hunt - we found 187!!! We played with friends (and siblings). We decided to do a little Spring Cleaning while we were outside - pollen was EVERYWHERE! We built castles and car carriers. We explored Sensory Bins with eggs, flowers, sand, and shaving cream. It was a BLAST!!!

Just a reminder! Spring Break is next week! No School March 25 - 29. Happy Easter!

Our STEAM Friday this week was centered around Weather! We attempted to make lightning - we were not successful but we did manage to make a lot of static and heard some "electrical" sounds as we were doing our experiments. We made pinwheels to try and see how the wind moves thing. We decorated flags that will blow in the wind. We made water "walk" as we attempted to make a rainbow of water. We saw how rain falls through the clouds. We used our own wind to move objects around. At the end we talked about how scientists use wind in wind tunnels to help make everyday products (like outdoor trashcans and street lights) safer when storms come through. We made a simple wind tunnel and made feathers dance! STEAM Fridays are the best!

The Tiger class has been learning about the letter V - they got a chance to smell vinegar as they were getting ready to make a volcano erupt. The Tiger girls worked hard engineering vehicles as they cheered and supported each other!

What better way to celebrate Dr. Seuss than to have a STEAM Friday dedicated to his books! We made Oobleck (Bartholomew and the Oobleck), went fishing (One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish), played an apple game (Ten Apples Up On Top), saw how high we could stack the Cat's Hat (Cat in the Hat), and made our very own turtles (Yertle the Turtle). It was so fun! The best part was that we got to do it all in our PAJAMAS!!!!

Genesis Christian Preschool Registration for the 2024/2025 School Year has begun! Summer Camp Registration will start March 4!

It was all about the colors and shapes today as the Lions and Giraffes explored different experiences shaped around Art! We made 2d and 3d shapes, made a color wheel that changed color when it was spun, made prints of the reaction of oil being added to colored water, drip painted, and made our very own kaleidoscopes!
Such a great way to explore!
