Fill Your Bucket List Foundation

In light of the continuing, unpredictable future impacts of COVID, and our inability to fill our original mission of serving immunocompromised cancer patients, the FYBLF Board of Directors has made the decision to shift our funds towards the amazing oncology nurses who support cancer patients and their families through their cancer journey and made so much of our work possible over the years.

We are excited to share that we are endowing a scholarship fund for oncology nurses in the graduate nursing program at UNC-Chapel Hill. Oncology nurses are the angels who take incredible care of cancer patients and their loved ones too, and who have also been an integral part of nominating and supporting our FYBLF wish recipients.

Thanks to you, FYBLF was able to fulfill the “Bucket List” wishes of cancer patients impacting over 900 wish recipients, their families and friends and allowed them to create precious memories. Anyone who has been affected by a cancer diagnosis -- whether it be themselves, family or friends -- knows how difficult it is to deal with on a day-to-day basis. Last year, we teamed up with Parker LORD to give three cancer warriors and their families some time away from the disease. Through our “Fund It and Fill It” program, Parker LORD donated a suite at PNC Arena in Raleigh for the Carolina Hurricanes game.

The three Wish Recipients and their families were treated to VIP parking, a dedicated entrance into PNC, catered food and drink, and fantastic views of the ice. Additionally, the Hurricanes/PNC Arena staff got in on the action. Just prior to the start of the 2nd Period, the recipients and a few of their kids were invited down to the “Fan Tunnel” to fist bump the Hurricanes players as they came back onto the ice. Later, some of the Hurricanes’ cheerleaders, the Storm Squad, came by with gifts for the recipients and snapped a few pictures.
