This weeks w**d is Whitetop. There is a lot of misidentification of this noxious w**d, with Penny Cress. Whitetop shows up in disturbed, dry soils as well as alkaline soils but it thrives in areas with good soil moisture. One key difference between Whitetop and Penny Cress is smell and root systems. PC has a strong onion like odor and shallow roots while WT does not have a strong smell and very deep roots. **ds
This weeks w**d is Curly Dock. CD is a county declared noxious w**d that is found in nursery crops, landscapes, roadsides, pastures and forage crops. CD can by controlled by uprooting plants, chopping and then burying the taproots. Mowing will prevent seed production and reduce top growth. Spring application of labeled herbicides are effective in controlling seedling curly dock. For established curly dock plants, fall herbicide applications are the most effective. Sequential applications may be necessary for control.

Mormon crickets have arrived in Natrona County, and we are here to help. Our treatment recommendation is using Eco-Bran. One 44 lb. bag will cover 5-10 acres and can picked up at our office. Protect your gardens, lawns and rangeland from Mormon Crickets this season with Eco-Bran!
This weeks w**d is Bur Buttercup. This w**d is not county or state declared, and often gets mistaken for goat heads because of their spikey heads. Bur Buttercup is a summer annual and begins showing up early! It is important to control bur buttercup stands before they produce flowers and seeds. Hoeing, pulling, and digging can control it, or it can be sprayed with 2,4-D or Round up. **ds
