Me and Arianna Crenshaw worked with Sarina and Nala today!! Nala let me pick up and clean out all 4 feet and this is only the second time I have even picked up her feet. She's very smart. Then she stood untied perfectly still while I did sarinas...and Nala was better than her...lol. Sarina is so smart it's ridiculous! They're both gonna make amazing horses!

There's nothing I love more than pictures of our rescues in their new homes safe and happy and loved! This is Arizona. She was rescued in 2020 and was around 6-7 years old with a 6 month old filly on her side. She was wild. Didn't know how to lead and scared of everything. Went to our trainer at that time David suttles and in 60 days she was a different horse. She's absolutely beautiful. Here is Arizona and one of her owners watching the sunrise together! And the other 2 are when she was rescued and came here!

Magic Mike! I was able to catch and halter him, tie him, which he stood completely still while I came out of the fence went to the truck and got grooming stuff, and look who's following me after we were done with our session! He's getting easier and easier to just stand there and let me pet. The haltering still takes time but that's ok. It's not taking me nowhere near as long.to halter him and way less drama! Super proud of him for being so brave!

Went today to say goodbye to MJ! She's headed to her home in Iowa tomorrow. The cool thing is she will also be with journey and crue from Hasty’s Haven ! I'm so excited for all of them. They have the best adopter and are going to have the most wonderful lives! It was nice to hug her neck and tell her how much I love her and will miss her!! MJ had basically become one of our own as she was with us for over a year! It took lots of money and training but she has absolutely blossomed into a wonderful horse! It just took time for the right adopter to meet her! And thank u Kyree Schlise for intorducing me to Sherri Barker McManis and telling her about MJ!! All the time and money was so worth it for this!! Pray for their safe travel tomorrow as that's a long haul!!

When I picked up Rhea I took some pics of the sanctuary horses. U wouldn't even recognize any of them!! Chance, jewel, serenity, missi, Annie, and brandy.... and thank u so much kristy for allowing them to come there and be on flat land and good grass to live out their days! She's takes such good care of them and doesn't ask me for anything. We still of course are responsible for the vet, farrier, etc....but she looks after them and feeds them and gives meds on a daily basis! We're beyond blessed to have her as a part of our rescue team!

Just got back from taking rhea to her new home. She was super bonded to the sanctuary herd ...mainly Annie and chance and was very upset. She will settle in but it may take her a few days. She's got a great home and I'm so happy they decided to give her a chance and adopt an older horse. She's such a good girl and a nice easy ride.

I was FINALLY able to take some time and work with Sarina and yhe new girl ( who I haven't got s name for yet...lol)
This was Sarinas first time seeing a stick and string and also the first time a saddle pad has been on her! She really surprised me!! She had a couple runs in circles til she realized it was ok. She let me pick up all 4 feet and pick them out too! She's super smart and gonna make someone a really great horse!
The new girl is just terrified. I can pet her all over and have started working with picking up her feet as well. The stick and string....well that was an alligator trying to eat her..lol. she was fine with it until it touched her butt then it was go time! By the end I could rub her all over with it even down her back legs!! I'm trying my best to give her, Sarina, and Mike all they need to be better but it's hard. I'm only 1 person and I do all the handling ... but I'm doing my best! I'm super proud of both these little girls!

Update on Magic Mike!!!! He's doing so wonderful! He's not in your pocket yet but he will let me walk up and pet him for a few seconds before checking out!! And look at how fat he is!! He looks phenomenal!! We haven't been able to start building his shelter yet due to everything that has happened this week. But I'm hoping we can get it going this weekend!! I was also fortunate enough to have Johnny Crooks come out last week and work with me and Mike! It was amazing to watch him and he's certainly very good at what he does. He worked with me for 4.5 hours. Cost was $150. His training will continue which still costs money. I will do whatever I can to give him what he needs. Thank you all for your support!!

LAST CALL ON HOODIES!! If you want one but haven't messaged me you have til tomorrow to get your order in. I will be sending in the order tomorrow night!!!

10/12/2023

UPDATE!! Rocky is back to his old self this morning!! He's going to be okay. He is just one of those horses that cannot have coastal and now we know! And I wanna say I am so proud of our little "vet" squad last night! You have never seen people more excited about p**p and farts than we were last night!! And thanks to Gabby Grieve for going all out to go in and get the impaction out! It's what saved his life! And Audrey, rocky mama, who's a little girl was walking him and even gave him some mineral oil after gabby showed her how to do it! She stepped up to help her baby and I couldn't be more proud!! And of course Jessica and Micheal all in with whatever we needed!! It was a wonderful ending to a scary night!! Thank you for all of your prayers and kind words!! First video is him this morning getting some mash the others are last night!
Last night I got a call from the trainer that rocky was down and possibly colic. I rushed there and administered banamine and walked and walked him. After finding out he was eating coastal I knew it was impaction! Thankfully our trainer was willing and did what had to be done to dig all the impaction out!

Brownie is gone. I'm just so upset right now about everything I just can't go into detail. We are going to need some help with this bill! My regular vet was out of town and I couldn't find any vet to come help. Dr. Phillips was going to have to come from Georgia. Dr Langston came and put her down for me. I'm overwhelmed with emotions right now so I'm just gonna stop typing. Any and all help is needed as we definitely weren't expecting this.

Thank you so much to everyone who donated and special thanks to nanda with Rideshare on a Mission who bought the supplies for the lean to shelter we are gonna build for magic mike! He's finally at my house! Loaded him up about 4 and got him over and it took about 10 minutes to get him off the trailer. He's great at loading but isn't to sure about coming off. He seems comfortable and even took some treats from bris hand and came right up to her. Lol. Guess I should get her to catch him!! Now I only have to build the catch pen and chute and start working with him on going in the chute!! So thankful for everyone who supports us!! Precious the porch chicken even hitched a ride on his hay! 🤣 He's gonna get lots of desensitization here!! More pics in comments

We've been working overtime on putting up fence and getting ready to move magic Mike to my house! I was hoping to get it done today before church but between work, kids, and feeding I didn't get to moving him today so I will move him tomorrow! So stay tuned for that update tomorrow!! Also Sunday Ginger goes into training for 8 weeks and we will be picking up the new 7 month old filly! ....

Here's another rescue success from Rocky Ridge Horse Rescue....
This is Margo! We rescued her February 3, 2023 from a kill lot in Tennessee. She was said to be bred but when she arrived we had her checked and there was no baby although she had a full bag. She either aborted while at the lot or baby was pulled from her. She's around 12 years old and didn't even know how to lead when she came! She was basically wild. She was of course sick and very underweight and we also fought ring worm where she lost lots of patches of hair all over her body. Imagine having to bathe to treat a wild mustang... She has turned out to be the most loving , beautiful, and sweet mare!! She's still currently at the trainer and has been there 60 days so far. She also had alot of trauma that our amazing trainer Gabby has been working through! She has a potential adopter who went to see her while she's at gabbys and fell in love with her!! This is where donations go!! Months of rehab and then months of training! She is simply beautiful!

09/29/2023

I just wanted to say a special thanks to everyone who has donated or reached out to do ate supplies! I even met a wonderful woman named nanda who has her own non profit called Rideshare on a Mission . She made contact with me and told me how to type up a letter with a list of supplies needed and even came to my home and picked it up to take to the woman at Lowes. I had no idea that these companies set aside money each year to help non profits and thanks to her we have another resource in the future!! She even had to come back 2 times cuz I messed up the first letter!! I'm so honored to meet and know ao many caring people who actually want to help!! Thank you all!! BIG RENOVATIONS FOR MAGIC MIKE NEEDED!!!!!
I'm having to totally redo all my fencing at my house to accommodate magic Mike. I have already taken down all my fencing. I need 6 ft welded wire fencing and also supplies to build a lean too shelter off the side of our storage building for him. I will also be using what corral panels I have to make a catch pen and chute to make it safe to give him his shots and prepare him for being gelded. This is a huge cost and we will need help. Right now he's in our extra rotation field but he's off where it's to quiet for him. I want him at my house where there are dogs barking, and chickens all over, and me always being able to keep my eyes on him. It will also allow me to work with him more. The cost for all the supplies I need is $541.42- $750 depending on how much fencing I will need. We need 2 16ft 2x4, 3 12ft 2x4, 12 1x4 and 10 metal sheets for roofing. We will be doing all of the installation ourselves!
Also Ginger will be going to training for atleast 8 weeks on October 9 and that cost will be $900. If u can donate to help us please do below. If you can't please share all over!! I know this is asking alot but Mike is going to be with us a while and I want to ensure he has safe fencing and shelter for winter. We are 501c3 and all donations are tax deductible. Thank you to everyone who supports us by donating, sharing, praying and even just sending kind thoughts and words!

Magic Mike..... today was a very special day for Mike. Roxanne and Jeannie came over to visit Mike. Roxanne and Jeanie both donated towards him and the even more special part is that Jeannie's son who recently passed away was named Michael. Roxanne had requested that I name him Michael or Mike and I decided on Magic mike. Jeannie later told me that when her son was little he always wanted to grow up and be a magician so it was a God thing that I picked Magic Mike not knowing that. As usual because Mike is so traumatized from whatever his past was he was absolutely terrified of these two new people in his pasture he didn't know he didn't want any part of it and then the most spectacular magical thing happened. He began to accept treats from Roxanne and then accept treats from Jeannie and even followed them. It was a very special moment for all three of us but I know especially for Jeannie. For him to have been so trusting in the hour that we were over there just tells you that God has his hand in it and just with patience time and love he will turn around. I was absolutely stunned and in all of the fact that he began to warm up to them and it really says a lot. I was just so thankful and honored to be a part of the story no matter how hard it is for me to get him to accept me and to earn his Trust knowing the reason behind it makes me want to work even harder. Thank you Roxanne and Jeannie for coming out to meet Mike and me as well it was so worth it! More videos in comments

Day 1 of starting to ween Sarina from ginger...lol. Ginger will be going to training October 9 so he wants the baby weaned so ginger can concentrate and not be looking for baby.... well ginger was fine with it....Sarina was very mad....lol. she was only in the pen for about an hour or so then put back down with mama. Rory has also adopted Sarina and thinks it's her baby too...lol

Margo will be up for adoption soon and needs her own very special person! She needs to trust you so she needs a calm quiet gentle hand to continue her training and love her forever. She was wild when she came and didn't even know how to lead. She's come so far and I pray her person comes along to give her a forever home!

Oh Mike...... is really all I can say. He went from freaking out and shooting backwards when I got his halter to put a lead line on to asleep within 1 minute..... I'll just keep working and trying and praying is really all I can do at this point... he needs shots and gelded asap but it doesn't look to be in the near future... hoping he makes a turn around soon...

Magic Mike continued..... I've watched tons of videos of how to work with him. And one trainer I saw first thing he did was pray over this terrified horse he was handling and there was instant change. Well today when I caught Mike I laid hands on him and prayed over him. I prayed for God to take away all his fear and anxiety and help him to love and trust and not fear me. Days ago I couldn't touch his face, couldn't put a rope around his neck over or under and he did not want to come to me willingly..... this is today! God tells us to care for his creatures he created so why not pray for them? God answers prayers! I will continue to pray over Mike and ask God to help me and help him. He doesn't know love. He doesn't know what it's like to just be caught and brushed and loved on. He expects hurt and pain. God will always answer you when you pray.

Thank you to those who donated towards our hay! We got 40 bales of super nice hay! Even had help unloading it....🤣🤣 We appreciate every single supporter and follower who donates and also shares! We've had very large expenses lately with vet, feed, and training costs!! Refeeding 4 skinny horses gets very expensive! So thank you for helping us!! That's Rhea and Annie helping unload hay!

Day 4!!!!!!!!! It was by no means easy and took me over 2 hours today but he is haltered!! I was so thankful to be able to fly spray him and put his fly mask back on. He was so jumpy still but as soon as i got his halter tied it was back to being a trusting sweet boy!! I don't know who did what to him to make him this way but they deserve to never have horses ever again. There's no reason for this baby to he so terrified of being caught and haltered!! With all I have had to do to catch him over and over these past few days any other stud would have probably been aggressive and tried to kick bite or kill me! But not Mike! He never once offered to hurt me in any way! That should tell you how good of a horse he really is but people were to busy passing him around using him for breeding over and over to take the time and make him a good riding horse! Good studs make great geldings!!

Photos from Rocky Ridge Horse Rescue's post 09/14/2023

Mike day 3..... I sat quietly while he ate then went to work. He was even standing in the corner asleep letting me rub his head. As soon as he even sees a rope or halter it's instant fear. I've had hard to catch horses many many times but none ever terrified of being haltered like he is. He just becomes a different horse when one is put in front of him. So I left 2 halters , 1 with a lead on it, laying in the pasture with carrots and apples in it and around it. The flies are all over him and he so needs his fly mask on to protect his eyes but I can only do what he is willing to allow without further traumatizing him. Pray that God will ease his spirit and take away that fear so I can give him what he needs.....

It's not done yet...I only had one cattle panel for the top so I have to buy another one to finish it. Better than nothing and when ur poor u improvise. By the way the one I made that's at my house has withstood all the high winds we've had several times and is holding up just fine! And he even went in it. It'll give him a shelter for rain and sun if he chooses to use it.....

09/13/2023

Day 2 with magic mike.... he did let me rub him a little with my lead rope and let me brush him without a halter obvisouly.... I did bring some panels up to build a little stall. I will be feeding him in there so he knows it's a safe place. I'm sitting inside the pen quietly while he eats. After a few days of that I will get in with him without trying to halter just to make him comfortable and just keep doing that until I feel he's ready for the halter. I'm also going to make a little shelter like I have at my house with the panels, cattle panels and a tarp. He has shade trees to get under at the fence line but none of them ever use it. They will graze whether it's 10000 degrees or not...lol

I was I was also sent a picture of baby Rein today and she is one year and 4 months old now. And I know those of you that were interested in her probably going to really kick yourself or not jumping on and buying her LOL. Her mom says she is doing great and is a little troublemaker but when you're this beautiful you can make all the trouble you want and it's okay. She got an amazing home with 2 of the nicest people. Not to mention they showed me all of their cool photos and big time wins of all the arabians they bred and showed over 30 years!! And to think her mama was going to be slaughtered and Rein wouldn't be here.... so here's her before and after ...
For those new to following baby rein ( now named Rella) was born here at the rescue may 6 2022. Her mom went from Minnesota to Iowa to Alabama then NC where I bought her from a lady that didn't want her. Her mom Brandy had a bad knee from calcification and couldn't be ridden. Brandy is now with our sanctuary herd and Rein was adopted.

Well Magic Mike has become Mike the uncatchable..... I had a halter on him cuz he is so head shy and terrified about u touching his face and nose. Well he got it off. I've tried a few times to halter him with no success. So I'm just working on him just coming to me and letting me pet him then walking away. It's probably gonna take me a while to be able to halter him again but I want it to be positive. I was going to take panels up and build a catch pen but I know that would only traumatize him further. So everyday I'll be working slowly to gain his trust so when he's ready to be haltered it will be pleasant not bad. That's probably why he's the way he is..... by the end he was following me and letting me pet him which he wasn't doing. He would run in fear... I may have bit off more than I can chew but I won't quit.

Photos from Rocky Ridge Horse Rescue's post 09/07/2023

Spent some time with Mike this afternoon. He's been so scared I have just been letting him be so he can settle. I have found the secret to his love and its apples! 🤣 Came right to me and let me love on him. I also figured out he is way calmer without a fly mask on. He even leaned into my head scratches which he was jumping at before. He got a good brushing and sprayed down with fly spray. He really is a good boy. I just keep telling him I'm not one of those people that hurt him and never will be that he's ok. You can tell he does not fully trust humans right now. Which is ok. They often come like that anyway. Even through his fear he is super easy to handle and will let me do whatever I need to do. We will get there it's just going to take alot of time. He already looks amazing! He's only been here 15 days!!
