Congratulations to three of our amazing graduating seniors who were recognized today as EIU Distinguished Seniors: Maddy McLaughlin, Ethan Miller, and Madison Thompson. (It’s pretty awesome that out of 25 spots for honorees English snagged 3 of them!)
Yesterday's awards tea gave us a chance to do two of our favorite things: Give away money and celebrate our students' successes!

The application period ends one week from today! (It's worth noting that it's one of the most affordable academic camps around,; it beats out many week-long day camps that don't include meals and lodging in terms of affordability! Three more days until Lions in Winter! Luckily, the weather will be warmer, so nothing should keep you from coming out to hear Cynthia Pelayo (poetry), Emily Maloney (creative nonfiction), and Taymour Soomro (fiction) read and give craft talks.
The reading kicks off at 5:30 p.m. in the Doudna Fine Arts Center with a catered reception, and the reading will start at 6 p.m.
In addition to our featured writers, we will also have short readings from EIU students Athena Ballard, Riley Bauer, Sabrina Bunting, Hannah Hadley, Erica Heldenbrand, Maddy McLaughlin, and Ethan Miller. 🦁❄️
The revised, much shorter--and we hope better!--FAFSA is open. The site says the form will be "available periodically" during its soft launch, but still, no time like the present! Current and future students, we hope you'll get your FAFSA in before your holiday break is over.
