Yesterday's Day of Caring was rainy AND just as impactful as it has been (if not more due to the almost 2,000 volunteers!) for the last 32 years! 👏 Thanks to all who came out to make our community a better place!
Charlottesville volunteers convene for annual Day of Caring Despite the rainy weather, the United Way’s community-wide day of service, drew many volunteers to work on several projects around Charlottesville.
Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital hosted the 33rd Annual United Way Day of Caring, where hundreds of volunteers gathered to serve the community. Kimberly Skelley, Executive Director of the Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation, expressed excitement about the event.

Today we celebrated the 33rd Annual Laurence E. Richardson ! Despite the non-ideal forecast, we were still able to witness the joy, energy, connections and impact that this event has been known to create. Each year, we are inspired by what our community is capable of when we all come together around the spirit of volunteerism and giving back.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for our celebratory kickoff breakfast, volunteered, hosted a project, and helped today be so successful. Additionally, endless thanks to our sponsors who made the 2024 Day of Caring possible: Sentara Health (Presenting Sponsor), Woodard Properties (Platinum Sponsor), UVA Health (Gold Sponsor), Atlantic Union Bank (Gold Sponsor), University of Virginia (Gold Sponsor), Virginia Credit Union (Gold Sponsor), Panorama Paydirt (Silver Sponsor), and Newsradio WINA (Silver Sponsor).
P.S. One plus to having a rainy Day of Caring? The projects aren't over! We still have plenty of projects happening at later dates and we can't wait to see what volunteers are able to accomplish at more outdoor project sites! Stay tuned for more to come!
Day of Caring is a day of service in greater Charlottesville. iTHRIV was partnered with ReadyKids (http://readykidscville.org). They help kids be ready for life! 🥰 What an amazing organization! A few of us spent the morning cleaning play and therapy toys...Joy!
