Our incredible participants are ready to embark on their kindergarten journey. They are equipped with essential skills like writing their names, working in groups, and even mastering the lunch line. Girl Start Academy, our Pre-K seasonal camp, is dedicated to preparing our youngest participants for life after Pre-K, ensuring they have a strong foundation for success.

Our commitment doesn't end here. Our Girl Start Academy program coordinators will continue to support and check in with our participants throughout their kindergarten year.

Today at Girls Inc. of Chattanooga's summer camp, we had the honor of welcoming back one of our very own alumnae, Maya Thirkill.

Maya is a proud graduate of Spelman College and is currently pursuing her doctoral degree in Epidemiology from Emory University. She shared her inspiring journey and emphasized the importance of education and the impactful field of Epidemiology. Our participants were truly motivated by her words and her dedication to making a difference. Thank you, Maya, for being a shining example of what it means to be strong, smart and bold!

Today we highlight Girls Inc. of Chattanooga 2024 UnBought and UnBossed Sole Award in STEM recipient, Lawanda Hayes! Lawanda is making waves as a Senior Project Manager at Tennessee Valley Authority, exemplifying excellence with her degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Auburn University.

But Lawanda's impact goes beyond her professional achievements. She's a dedicated mentor, empowering young women to pursue their dreams in STEM careers.
