Toe-DL Wellness
Reflexology is an integrative health practice, which maps a reflection of the body predominantly on the feet and hands.
Reflexology is a science and an art that deals with the principle there are reflex areas in the feet and hands which correspond to all of the glands, organs, and parts of the body. Stimulating these reflexes properly can help many health problems in a natural way, as a type of preventative maintenance.

Day 6 of Reflexology Week. ( Im so late posting today. π₯Ί
I use warm stones in between my clients toes and they love it! Stretching feels great ... why not our toes!? π£
DAY 6 of WORLD REFLEXOLOGY WEEK 2022
Instead of more Reflexology facts, and information, we thought weβd give you some self care tips. And also because itβs weekend. π
S-T-R-E-T-C-H your toes ..... pleeeaase!
Our poor toes spend a huge amount of time squished in to foot wear in some shape or form - high heeled shoes, sport shoes, dance/ballet shoes, protective shoes, boots, sandals and jandals (flip flops)!
This, plus the fact that many of us are engaged in repetitive or sedentary activities throughout the day, causes the muscles in not only our body, but also our feet and every one of our toes to stiffen and become more rigid.
Stretch your squished toes as often as you can throughout every day, or at least at night and in the morning, or when exercising or stretching.
Try these easy stretches to stretch out your toes:
β’ Take your toes in your hands and bend them all downward, to stretch the top of your foot.
β’ Take your toes in your hands and bend them all upward, enough to feel a nice stretch in the bottom of your foot, not just the toes.
β’ Pull each toe apart from the next. You should be able to put one of each of your fingers in the gap between each of your toes.
β’ Holding your foot in one hand use your other hand to gently pull each toe one at a time, making small circles at the base of each toe clockwise and anticlockwise. Repeat on the other foot.
β’ Pull the little and big toes away from each other at once, so that there is a gentle pull across the width of your foot.
So, how do your toes feel now?π
Day 5 of Reflexolgy Week. I've always been interested in ear and face reflexology, however, the school I graduated from does not have classes for this. I want to learn from the best so I have been researching schools and I'm down to two. I've had several clients ask about this and I'm excited that I'll be able to provide this service for them!
Day 4 of Reflexology week. I couldn't agree with this post more! After completing my certification for foot reflexology, I went back to be certified for hands. It has been a great service to offer as an alternative to those who may have circumstances they can't have their feet worked on, but want the benefits of reflexology. π
DAY 4 of WORLD REFLEXOLOGY WEEK 2022
The great thing about Reflexology is that the feet are not the only surface that has a reflexology βmapβ on it. There are also charted reflex points of the human body on the hands, ears and face. Reflexologists often do further study and training to add working on these surfaces to their menu of services.
Hand Reflexology has a very special place in a reflexologists repertoire. π€²
When a client arrives in our practice with an injured foot, amputation of the leg/foot, or some other reason why we can not work their feet, or maybe even just one of their feet, then Hand Reflexology is an alternative that offers the same βhealingβ potential as the feet.
Working on the hands also provides a beautiful therapeutic connection when working on older clients, people who are very ill, or emotionally overwhelmed. And of course it is just lovely for hands that work hard physically every day of their lives!βΊοΈ
It is easy to work on the hands, and also a great platform for teaching self-help techniques that clients can use between their sessions with us.
All the same reflex points that are found on the feet are found on the hands and wrists.
The left hand represents the left hand side of the body. The right hand the right side of the body.
If youβve not ever experienced a Hand Reflexology session then we highly recommend that you ask your Reflexologist to include a bit of hand work in your next session.π
Day 3 of World Reflexology Week ...
What is Reflexology? π€ππ£
DAY 3 of WORLD REFLEXOLOGY WEEK 2022
So, what is Reflexology?
Reflexology is a complementary therapy based on the principle that all the systems of the body are mapped out in reflex points on the feet, hands, face and ears. π£
This is how foot reflexology works ...
Stimulation of the approximately 7,500 nerve endings in the feet helps to open up the natural pathways your body uses to nourish and heal itself. Tender or βgrittyβ points indicate congestion in the corresponding area of the body. βΉοΈ
Reflexologists have studied to follow a βmapβ of the body as reflected on to the surfaces of both feet.π£
During a reflexology session a state of deep relaxation is induced in the body, providing the ideal environment for the body to tap in to its own innate healing capacity and facilitate potential restoration of balance to the body and its systems where there is imbalance. π΄
Reflexology is a well established holistic complimentary therapy, which treats the mind and body as a whole to achieve a state of general well-being. π
Now you know a little more about this amazing therapy on the feet that us reflexologists love to do so much! π
My Dear Friend, Sue (and amazing yoga instructor), sent me this yesterday.
I wanted to share as I think it's just Beautiful!

Day 2 of Reflexolgy Week. I have read two of her books, Stories the Feet Can Tell Thru Reflexology (which is mentioned in this post), and Stories the Feet Have Told Thru Reflexology. It's fascinating to read her stories and fulfilling when you see it happening with your own clients. π£
DAY 2 of WORLD REFLEXOLOGY WEEK 2022
Fondly known as the βMother of Reflexologyβ, Eunice Ingham was born in South Dakota in 1889. She went on to work as a physiotherapist, and it was through this work that she was introduced to Zone Therapy (see our Day 1 post yesterday π)
Through her own research and evidence using the ten zones of the body she mapped the whole bodyβs organs and systems on the feet, developing the foot chart of modern reflexology.π£
Her technique is what is practised all over the world today.π
The lovely image of Eunice working on her husbandβs feet is taken from her book βStories the Feet Can Tellβ.
Eunice's life-long goal was to help people as much as she was able, whenever, and wherever.
This is still the collective wish of Reflexologists all over the world.π
A great history lesson for day one in Reflexology week! π£π
DAY 1 of WORLD REFLEXOLOGY WEEK 2022
It has arrived β¦ the week in the calendar dedicated to reflexology.
We thought weβd kick it off with some history for you. π
The image in this post is a very well known one to all Reflexologists. It is a Zone Therapy Chart. π
Zone Therapy Theory is accepted as the precursor to modern Reflexology as we know it today and was used as far back as 1500 A.D. Zone theory was introduced by Sir Henry Head, a London based neurologist, in 1893. He found that the whole body and limbs could be marked into areas which correspond to the distribution of the pain given off from one segment of the spinal cord. π€
Zone Therapy was further developed by Dr. William H. Fitzgerald. Dr Fitzgerald was an ear, nose and throat specialist. (1872β1942) He verified that pressure on various parts of the body, hands, fingers, mouth and feet, could be used to bring about a numbing effect on another area of the body and published his findings with co-author Bowers in βZone Therapyβ (1917). π
In Zone Therapy the body is divided into ten equal longitudinal zones, 5 on each side of the mid line of the body. Each toe and finger defines a specific zone; therefore there are five zones per foot/hand. The zones are distributed up the body like slices. π
Zone Therapy is based on the concept that within these zones, energy runs up and down between all the parts of the body. It involved applying pressure to a part of the body to influence the functioning of other parts situated in the same longitudinal zone but distant from the part of the body to which pressure was applied. A blockage of the bodyβs natural energy may have an effect on any organ or part of the body that lies within that particular zone and may create an energy imbalance in any part of the body within that zone. π€’
A very special lady built on this information to develop Reflexology as we know it today β¦. But weβll tell you about her tomorrow. π

Dr. Schindler was my physician, former employer, and now dear friend. I have not only heard by patients how amazing he is over the years, but have experienced myself. He was also all three of my children's physician and has done hypnosis on all of them. Through hypnosis, he helped my colitis, migraines, insomnia, tremors, and very recently has helped me greatly with some emotional struggles in my life. I'm so honored that one of his locations will be right here in my home office in Stockbridge!
Looking forward to this new adventure coming spring of 2022. I will be a certified bee keeper, raising bees in the middle of rows and rows of beautiful lavender. Lavender and honey both have many health benefits so why not combine them into something even more wonderful!!! π£πΏ
Nothing better than working on your grandsons feet. π
I usually don't wear rings working but
