Unit 280 President Shelia Sharp and Vice President Tracey Antley presented a check to the Hampton Roads chapter of the American Gold Star Mothers. This contribution will be used to support their Wreaths Across America initiative at the Hampton National Veteran's Cemetary. Thank you to the Unit for supporting this vital endeavor.

Today members of Post 280 and Unit 280 attended the The Mayor's Commission on Veterans Affairs Veterans Day ceremony at Chesapeake City Hall. Our thanks to the Mayor, the Commission, and our guest speaker CAPT Janet, Days, Commanding Officer, Naval Station Norfolk, for their time and effort in producing this ceremony honoring all who served.

Unit 280 provided “America the Beautiful" coloring books to 123 kindergarten students at Butts Road Primary today to help with the Veterans Day celebration. A big shout out to everyone who helped make this possible.

Free dental care for Veterans without dental insurance on Saturday, November 16 from 8:00 AM-1:00 PM.
This will be in Hampton, Williamsburg, Norfolk, and Mechanicsville.

This afternoon American Legion Post 280 (Kevin Wilkinson) and Girl Scout Council of the Colonial Coast (GSCCC) Troop 382 (Victoria) teamed up to assist Mrs. Jeanne Jones with folding her husbands burial flag for display in his shadow box. It was a great opportunity to learn about TSGT Jones' career and the impact he made throughout his life.

October 26th marks the National Day of the Deployed. The day honors all servicemembers who have been deployed in the service of the United States. It also honors the sacrifices their families have made during deployments.
