Yesterday (Dec. 3), the U.S. reported nearly 213,000 new cases of COVID-19, the highest daily total yet. Our country saw more than 2,700 deaths from COVID yesterday, including 9 in Montana and 2 here in Yellowstone County. These aren't just numbers. They are our friends, our neighbors and our loved ones. Many of them are being cared for in your local hospitals by the health care teams who are working tirelessly around the clock in the face of these incredibly difficult and stressful times. At Billings Clinic on any given day, we have 70-100 COVID-positive inpatients across our hospital, and our ICU is constantly at or above capacity, filled with critically ill patients. To those who've been doing your part to slow the spread, THANK YOU! We need everybody's help to get through this -- and we will get through this -- but it's going to take all of us together. Wear your masks, physically distance, wash your hands, stay home and avoid others if you are ill or have respiratory illness symptoms, and avoid groups or crowds whenever possible.
