Meal prep for the week: breakfast egg frittata and turkey burger/veggies for lunch. Eating healthy is a habit and it’s easier when you’ve planned so you don’t make poor food choices when hungry. When I first started teaching over 20 years ago my lunch consisted of a 20 oz. coke and bag of chips from local gas station. What seems impossible today will one day be second nature.
Sor Juana CrossFit is on for next school year! Get excited Phoenixes! Really happy and grateful to have had the opportunity to meet with other affiliates and of course Dave Castro to build relationships and possibilities for our students, staff, and families.
Let them and make them play outside!
Sor Juana Phoenixes are making P.E. happen with the new restrictions. Learning to stay in our “play boxes,” sanitizing our equipment, and getting to our local park to work on some striking skills.
Sor Juana Phoenixes developed their own physical and nutritional goals before Winter Break, created a plan, and tracked their personal goals for 3 weeks. Sounds like physically literate students to me! I’m proud of all their efforts to live healthier, stronger, and happier lives.
**UPDATE ON DONORS CHOOSE FUNDING, we got funded! Thank you!! Look for equipment pick up notifications toward the end of the month.
Phoenix Phit students this month have been developing physical goals. They are learning to jump rope, do a frog fake trick with the jump rope (GOOGLE it - it's awesome!), flip a bean bag up and catch it on their backs, jump higher, jump farther, and are just making sure they are being active on a daily basis. They will track these goals over the next 6 weeks which will lead us "back" from winter break and into January. This is important. This will keep them moving, staying strong, getting energized, learning better, and smiling. They will come out of this sedentary Chicago holiday season and remote learning experience ok if we keep giving them something to want to do. They NEED to physically challenge themselves. Please help spread the word that TOMORROW ONLY on GIVING TUESDAY starting at 7am ET, all donations made to my project on Donors Choose will be doubled! https://www.donorschoose.org/project/strike-it-up/5307454/?utm_source=dc&utm_medium=directlink&utm_campaign=teacherhub&utm_term=teacher_204572&rf=directlink-dc-2020-11-teacherhub-teacher_204572&challengeid=284474
Back at the remote PE thing. Students need so much motivation now more than ever to stay active. Screen zombies.
Attention Sor Juana Phoenix Phys. Ed. students: when you come to register be sure to get your remote learning P.E. equipment and for all of you who had thank you gifts coming from Kids Heart Challenge - they’ve arrived!
