Our monthly newsletter is LIVE and full of PRIDE! Take a look at our growing team and how we're promoting community healing, starting with this message from our founder and CEO, Jill Wolf:
Hello friends,
As we near the end of pride month, I reflect on how I embrace some of my own intersecting identities as a q***r, neurodiverse Jew, a striving anti-racist, and a small business owner, to name a few. Developing pride in our identities and knowing who we are is one of our inalienable rights and a lifelong journey of learning and unlearning. Community support has been essential to this process. Our work as therapists fosters pride and mental health for our clients and ourselves.
As therapists, we understand the significance of mental health in fostering a sense of pride and belonging. We are not just clinicians; we are nurturers, supporters, and advocates who come from diverse backgrounds and face unique struggles of our own. Our role is to provide a safe space to explore your identities, heal from past wounds, and build a future where your life feels how you want it to.
I'm incredibly proud of our team—a dedicated group of clinicians nurturing one another and our clients. Our trained therapists, Tori, Gil, Hilary, Malefi, and Chelsea, support our community and build pride in who they are.
Cherish yourself and your journey. The pack knows counseling and therapy are great ways to nurture your well-being and build pride in who you are and who you're not. Gift yourself some therapy today.
With gratitude and pride,
Jill

Today, we celebrate Juneteenth, a powerful reminder of freedom and resilience. On June 19, 1865, the last enslaved African Americans were emancipated in Galveston, Texas, marking a pivotal moment in our history.
Wolf Pack Therapist, Maléfi Ifágbayi Adéyẹfá (he/him) shares thoughts about why Juneteenth is so significant for formally enslaved African Americans.
Though enslaved persons had been freed by the Emancipation Proclamation in 1863, many states didn't abide by the executive order, including Texas, and it wasn't until Granger and his troops arrived in Galveston with Order No. 3, a decree releasing those that remained enslaved, that the dehumanizing institution was finally abolished. The declaration led to an outpouring of joyful celebrations, and from them, Juneteenth was born (https://www.today.com/life/holidays/juneteenth-quotes-rcna31675)
This declaration reached enslaved Black people years after Lincoln’s Executive Order, the “Emancipation Proclamation,” was issued.
This federal decree was proclaimed, and the stipulations were clear. However, during the bloody Civil War, the Proclamation wasn’t enforceable in the southern states. Moreover, its universal success hinged on the Union emerging victorious in the war.
Why call it Juneteenth?
A blend of the words "June" and "nineteenth," Juneteenth has celebrated freedom for over 150 years but was recognized nationally in 2021 when President Joe Biden signed an order designating the observation as a federal holiday.
"Juneteenth may mark just one moment in the struggle for emancipation, but the holiday gives us an occasion to reflect on the profound contributions of enslaved Black Americans to the cause of human freedom." —Jamelle Bouie
Let’s honor this day by reflecting on our past, celebrating African American culture, and committing to the ongoing fight for equity and justice.
Happy Pride Month from The Pack 🐺

Okay, real talk. Goal-setting is not everyone’s jam. However, we have a theory: not all goals are set or achieved equally. Personalities, time/place, training/modeling, and past decisions that didn’t pan out create loads of fear that can thwart our desire to strive to build the lives we want.
The reality is this: we’ve all set goals and fell short or even by a long shot. It’s the perceived failure that your brain focuses on as opposed to the wins - goals you have achieved - especially when you’re struggling with mood disorders, self-esteem, or identity challenges. Goal-setting has become an intimidating process where we see the roadblocks and pitfalls over the bridges and life preservers, especially in areas we might feel unsure about.
But what if we told you that science is clear re: the benefits of SMARTER goal-setting? Setting goals is linked with higher motivation, self-esteem, self-confidence, and autonomy (Locke & Latham, 2006), and research has established a strong connection between goal-setting and success (Matthews, 2015).
Today’s lesson from The Den focuses on SMART goals:
S-M-A-R-T goals stand for:
S (Specific): They target a particular area of functioning and focus on building it.
M (Measurable): The results can be gauged quantitatively or at least indicated by some qualitative attributes. This helps in monitoring the progress after executing the plans.
A (Attainable/Achievable): The goals are individualized and targeted to suit people. They are flexible in that regard, considering that no single rule suits all.
R (Realistic): They are practical and planned in a way that would be easy to implement in real life. The purpose of a smart goal is not just providing the plan,
but also helping the person execute it.
T (Time-bound): An element of time makes the goal more focused and provides a time frame for task achievement.
While this was the golden rule of goal-setting, researchers added two more aspects...the S-M-A-R-T-E-R rule:
E (Evaluative/ethical): The interventions and ex*****on follow professional and personal ethics.
R (Rewarding): Goal-setting results are rewarded positively and give the user a feeling of accomplishment.

Happy Black History Month! At the Pack we’re celebrating Black EVERYTHING - history, culture, wisdom, love, food, music, traditions, people - EVERYDAY.
They say healing isn’t linear. Well, neither is change. It’s a process, a journey.
When considering therapy, recognize that you might not know precisely what you want to change. Maybe you have a really clear picture. Perhaps you are between stages. Maybe you’re feeling stuck in a stage. Maybe none of this makes sense. Wherever, whenever, that’s ok.
Without an idea of where you are, it can feel challenging to achieve your goals. A licensed therapist can help you through this process.
