GLMMF is dedicated in memory of former Negro League pitcher, Gread “Lefty” McKinnis. On Saturday, July 6, The Gread "Lefty" McKinnis Memorial Foundation presented scholarships to its 2024 recipients. This year's awards were presented to (pictured left to right) Nathan DeLoach, Deven A. Frierson, Elijah Johnson, and Brock C. Richardson.
Nathan is a graduate of Walter Payton College Preparatory High School, and will be attending Howard University in the fall majoring in Psych with Premed Advising. Deven is a graduate of Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory High School, and will be attending the University of Illinois Urbana Champaign majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Elijah is a graduate of Kenwood Academy High School, and will be attending Southern Illinois University Edwardsville majoring in Forensics and Criminology. Brock is a graduate of Kenwood Academy High School, and will be attending Hampton University majoring in Aviation Management.
We are so proud of this year's recipients and look forward to hearing great things about them in the future. Congratulations guys and have a wonderful school year!

The Gread "Lefty" McKinnis Memorial Foundation presented its 2023 scholarship to Lawrence Nalls, Joel M. Casey, and Immanuel Ogundipe.
Lawrence is a graduate of Gwendolyn Brooks College Preparatory Academy, and will be attending Morehouse College. Joel is a graduate of Lindblom Math and Science Academy and will be attending Howard University. Immanuel is also a graduate of Lindblom Math and Science Academy and will be attending North Carolina University in the fall.
