Our September 2024 luncheon was graced with a presentation from MG James Mukoyama, USA (Ret) on his experiences in Vietnam and how his personal mantra of faith, family, and flag helped him through adversity. He believes this mantra can be used today to help all veterans struggling with invisible wounds such as PTSD and moral injury.
MG Mukoyama is the author of the book, Faith, Family & Flag - Memoirs of an Unlikely American Samurai Crusader.
Our November luncheon was well attended and we enjoyed a presentation from Mr. John Happ on his book, The Navigation Case. Here is a photo of John, and chapter member Lt Col Neil Meccia, USAF, (Ret.) who presented him with a model of a WWII era A-20 aircraft – the plane John’s father flew in New Guinea.

VFW Legislative chairman Mike Peck & Asst Chairman Dutch DeGroot where privileged to get to the Office of Veterans Assistance Commission of Cook County (VACCC) today. There to congratulate our new Superintendent Elizabeth Soto and confirm that the VFW Department of Illinois is in complete support of her and the VACCC. Col. Peck presented Superintendent Soto with an Autographed copy of Zero to Hero by MOH Recipient Allen Lynch.
