20 years ago today, we lost the matriarch of our family. However we know she is with us every day. Ida’s spirit, wit, humor, grace + style are felt throughout the restaurant. She was our first official bookkeeper in addition to being Gene’s beloved wife, and Marion’s mom (Michelle’s grandmother).

We are proud of the long line of strong, expressive, passionate women in our family who have contributed so much toward making Gene & Georgetti what it is. 🤍

So many people have said to us over the years, “if only these walls could talk…” but we believe they do! The art, photos and items you see throughout the restaurant tell the story of our heritage, history and family.

Did you know that Gene’s wife was an avid needlepointer, and began this custom project (the cover of our original menu) in her 80’s. She had not finished it at her death, and her dear friend Dutchie Caray stepped in to see that it be completed. ❤️ Every time I walk by this, I think of these two incredible women with such wit + humor and friendship.
