KitchenLab Interiors
KitchenLab in Chicago designs warm, inviting spaces for people who love their kitchens.
Who else loves a steel and glass pantry door? We closed off an entrance to the dining room and created a walk-in pantry!
This workman's cottage in Bucktown had a crappy builder-grade kitchen and we turned into something really special 🔨
We love it when a client takes a risk on something like a patterned floor tile!
We love outfitting a kitchen to be industrial grade for all your cooking needs, but also to keep it elegant and homey.

Pretty cool to see your name in print (and a few projects 😉) in The New York Times Thanks for a terrific article Tim McKeough, it kind of made me miss our Chicago kitchen that got a cameo.

Throwing it back to this charming office at Project Sunnyside ☀️
I could hang out in this space for hours! Another space that’s doing double duty- this little sunroom/office also doubles are their mudroom - tons of hidden coat and shoe storage behind those doors!
We don’t always have to add in color to create a unique space. We achieved dimension in this kitchen by layering different shades of cream and white.

Still one of our tried-and-true projects in East Grand Rapids, Michigan ✨
Inspired by French bistros, we incorporated a La Cornue range and hood, and a vintage runner sourced by to pair with walnut island and industrial style brass-pendants.
Breathing new life into homes one vintage piece at a time!

This Tudor style home was a dream to design! We wanted to open the kitchen up to the dining room and give it a sense of modernity while still paying ode to the home's traditional style. We flipped the locations of the breakfast room and kitchen in order to create a more cohesive flow throughout the space.
As much as we love designing formal dining rooms, sometimes having a smaller place to gather off of the kitchen is more practical!
Another perk of this space is that you get to this pretty little breakfast nook right off the dining room ✨
A simple but efficient mudroom, with an enclosed closet to reduce the clutter and stay organized.
We also created an opening between the mudroom and the kitchen, and carved out a walk-through pantry to create flow throughout the room ✍🏼
It's Transformation Tuesday! Have you noticed we love banquette dining?
Carving out even the smallest space in a kitchen for a breakfast nook, always families on the go to enjoy quick shared meals before starting the day!
Most of our clients have a pretty good sense of humor! We loved working with this client’s eclectic style when designing this kitchen, especially the gluten poster 😂

Happy Transformation Tuesday!
This super fun couple hired us to renovate the 190 square ft kitchen of their brick bungalow with a bad 70’s façade and builder grade finishes 🧱
We selected all the furniture and art as well, and integrated an existing dining room table ✨
Take a peek inside this walk-in pantry 🍽️
These clients not only got a bulter's pantry right off the kitchen, but also a walk-in pantry! Even the smallest pantry can provide tons of storage.

This busy family of six gets to enjoy breakfast and casual meals in this eat-in kitchen☕ 🥐
Loved playing with color and pattern in this sunny breakfast nook!

What a transformation!
This house was a 1970's edition on an early 1920's home and has three levels. We managed to get it down to two, opened up the kitchen up to the dining room, added windows, and of course added beautiful finishes ✨

A workspace and pantry all in one! We love multi-purpose spaces and always take that into consideration when space planning. Double the functionality, double the charm!
Brace yourselves for this before and after! 👀
Always a debate on whether to do open shelving or not. But we think it's a great choice when trying to add additional storage and to show off some of your beautiful tableware!

Who else appreciates a quaint little mudroom? The perfect spot for our belongings at the end of a busy day 🗝️

Happy Transformation Tuesday! 🍷
We fully renovated this traditional North Shore home, and the clients gave us free rein to get creative in designing the lower level, including creating a wine cellar, media room, and bar! Having a background in the restaurant business, we took cues from Chicago staples like Gilt Bar, Bavettes, and other vintage sports club type influences.

⚠️ if you follow both our companies sorry for the duplicate. 😂 Ok, so... I turned 50 last Tuesday. Warning, this is the longest and most personal post you'll see from me in forever so feel free to keep scrolling 🤣. I've been sucked into what my husband and partner, Nick, calls the Bermuda Triangle. Our daughter's birthday, Mother's Day, and my birthday over 6 days. I bailed on plans to host a bunch of people for a weekend party in Spain or France, or wherever I could or couldn't find the perfect house. I bailed on a big party in Michigan. (2 yr old Hannah ended up with a bloody lip at my 40th, still not sure how). First, apologies to my family and friends for flaking, you know it wasn't an easy decision. Once I commit, it usually happens, even if only by pure force of will. For the first time in my life, I had no idea what I wanted to do. That's NEVER my problem. It was so weird. But the truth is, I've done so many things I wanted to do, gone places I wanted to go, which is amazing!!! So instead of chilling, we threw a small surprise party for Hannah, hosted family for Mother's Day, friends for dinner on my bday and pulled Hannah out of school for a 4 day weekend in New York. This is starting to feel like an Oscar's speech running too long 😬. Those who I was with, thank you for making the last 3 weeks unbelievably special. Next week I'll celebrate with my amazing team and work fam! 😘🥰🎂🤯🤦🏽♀️😂🥹🤪

When deciding on furnishings, we like to stick to tones within a specific color family in the room to create a cohesive feel.

Who would've thought this was the same kitchen!
This Tuesday, we're featuring Project Dearborn Street. Even in a condo where you're limited by columns, we love a good space plan ✍🏼
