Today is the first day of our cafe project in The Blackstone Hotel! Permit in the window, workmen on schedule, a little demo going on and some new products are here, placed in storage. I’m the Interior Designer, General Contractor and Project Manager on this union project. With so many big events in Chicago, we have to work around these and carry on! I’ll be sharing updates- hope you’ll follow along~

Our commercial projects start as a concept with renderings to show our clients how we visualize their space to look and feel, just like our residential projects. We specialize in hospitality design with an emphasis on common spaces, this one, lobbies and elevator areas of condo buildings.

We’re thrilled to announce our next commercial project, a cafe which is located inside a prominent hotel in Chicago! We’ve been working hard on the design, keeping it within budget, selecting union contractors and will soon be overseeing the entire project. Keep following us to watch the process unfold.

COMMERCIAL BREAK~ We aren’t able to announce this new project yet but our presentation was well received. When designing commercially there’s much to consider, including ADA compliance, durable performance fabrics and products that will stand the test of time with heavy traffic. We custom tailor interiors to suit each individual client’s needs.

 Attending such a wonderful fundraiser for an organization that does amazing pro bono design work for those in need.

GO WITH THE FLOW~ My favorite thing in designing interiors is when a project is completed and a client is thrilled with the work done. In this instance, we came on board with the last detail to finish off these two rooms with orchestrating the sheer draperies. We meticulously selected the hardware and fabric for the draperies that would allow light to filter in and create a softness to the space. We achieved just that!

LOUNGING~ it’s not surprising that my favorite course in college was interpersonal communications and now, my favorite spaces to design are public seating areas. Whether that be an office space as shown in this pic, a restaurant, lounge or social club. Our forte is public commercial spaces where people can converse and feel the sensory vibes of the space. Incorporating plants and greenery is always suggested!

OPEN VIEW~ Monday morning Kitchen inspo of a recent project! We removed a wall and opened up the kitchen and dining room (and created a pass through from Kitchen to Great Room that you can’t see in photo) Flooring transitions of different types cause the eye to stop. By maintaining the same flooring throughout a space, it allows a seamless view with a more open, spacious aesthetic.
