Small Baths...BEWARE. We can make you feel twice as large without expanding your footprint. We gutted this small bath, still managing to squeeze in a full-sized tub. We used a wall hung vanity to open up the floor, subway tile floor to ceiling to brighten and expand the space, and this fantastic geometric print

Hello beautiful! Custom kitchen cart with walnut top.

Photos from Foster Hill Design's post 07/09/2022

. We are about to finish this kitchen remodel and could not be more excited. We reconfigured the layout to remove the peninsula which was choking off the circulation paths. Now we can fit a 13-foot island as the centerpiece of this cook’s kitchen. The walnut island is set off beautifully by the contrast of the white perimeter cabinetry. Counters come in this week and then the decorative backsplash and finish elements. Can’t wait!

This unused area adjacent to the kitchen used to house a smaller scale
furniture piece (as shown in last image). By removing it and adding this built-in pantry and bar, we
greatly increased the function in this small galley style kitchen. Nearing the finish line🤩

We have always loved taking inspiration from nature and so has this artist!

When we visited artist Wendy Martin .art in Savannah, GA, we immediately fell in love with her nature inspired artwork. So much so that we commissioned this two panel painting for above our custom kitchen banquette. I spy with my little eye a hidden deer, do you?

She also recently launched her own wallcovering and textile line - both reflecting natural elements, amazing scale and pattern. We could not be more obsessed with them.

We love this “inky stripe” wallpaper by Eso Studio! This unique pattern was created by pleating fabric and invokes feelings of tranquility. Follow Foster Hill Design for more design inspo 🏠

The Streeterville project is just wrapping up. Our favorite part is the 9 feet of pantry storage we added in the empty dining nook adjacent to the U-shaped kitchen. Doing so makes the kitchen feel like it doubled in size and added so much function.

Artist Jessica Fields created this stunning landscape piece for us with her layered textures and exposed canvas.  It started with us asking our clients where they love to travel or landscapes that they have a heartfelt connection to.⠀

Our clients were both drawn to layered plains and low hills with one hailing from North Dakota and the other from Florida.  Jessica started with sketches marrying these two geographies together. Then these layers started to build in this textured and lively landscape.  ⠀

. That’s how we feel about this large-scale Tiger Eye print from the power-house trio Esostudio

Directly derived from one of their hand dyed textiles, the large, modern scale is a wow factor. The classic Shibori folding technique used gives their pattern a calming repetitive structure and laid back vibe. Perfect for this master bedroom.

Home stretch! It’s been a long slow road with supply chain delays but thrilled to finally see it coming together. Wainscoting has been added. Opening squared off. Fireplace refinished. Floors sanded and all new furnishings and finishes. Can’t wait to photograph the final space soon. Swipe to see the before and progress.

How about balloons as pendants? Elevations are great but some times you need to see it in place to get the scale and placement right. Final cabinetry fronts and handles going in this week!! Swipe to see the progress and the before. We're in the home stretch now.

Happy Halloween! My favorite holiday. Loved going to the pumpkin patches when my kiddos were little. I miss their little faces, but now they help me to decorate. We amped up the scary this year. Get ready for tonight neighbors! 🎃

Is it 5-o'clock yet? Friday happy hour is about to start in Chicago. Here are some of our favorite bar set-ups this year. Cheers!

We love it when a plan starts to come together. These supply chain delays have been very trying for everyone in our industry. Our amazing clients have been MORE than patient and wonderful through this process. We cannot wait to see their master retreat finally get finished. The custom armoires get completed next week. Here's some progress photos in the meantime.

Our River North project involved renovating every square inch of this high-rise home overlooking Lake Michigan. For the owner's suite, gone is the dark and dated finishes in favor of a custom-built modern floating vanity. The freestanding tub has its own niche. We made sure that a wine glass could fit easily. 🍷 Swipe for a tour.⠀

We had the absolute pleasure during our Savannah scouting trip to meet with artist and business owner Wendy Martin. Always a fan of her fine art paintings, we are thrilled now to be able to use her nature-inspired line of wallcoverings and textiles in our designs. We just returned from a scouting trip in Savannah. Stunning architecture, design, artists and nature. Felt very fortunate to meet with amazing artists and have exciting new sources to be partnering with. More to follow on some of our new finds later this week. Definitely check out Asher + Rye if you visit pictured here.

Weekends are for lazy mornings with family and friends. We created this cozy conversation nook for our clients to gather around for coffee and a chat. Their favorite part and ours, is the custom built walnut table.

This emerald jewel box of a kitchen is one of our favorite projects this year. It was once a cramped dark kitchen with dated appliances and cabinetry. We removed a wall to create a built-in eating nook at the back, added an exterior door to a new entertainment deck and outfitted it with custom cabinetry to take advantage of every square inch. Swipe for a tour.

Bedroom suite, meet Retreat. This Esostudio Sand Stripe paper is finally getting installed next week and we can't wait to give our clients the calm retreat they were needing at the end of a long work week.

Photos from Foster Hill Design's post 07/14/2021

We had too much fun with this install today. The icing on the cake was hanging the Juju hat above the bed. They are created by tying bundles of hand-dyed feathers to raffia sticks and then sewing the sticks together in a circular pattern to create the round shape. It arrives completely wrapped up in a tight bundle and then you work to open it up to create the circular shape.

Its roots lie with the Bamileke people of Cameroon in West Africa. Ceremonial crowns like these would traditionally have been worn by village chiefs during celebrations. Still amazes us what human hands can create.

That’s a wrap. Our Lincoln Park bath project crossed the finish line yesterday. There were material and labor delays and install challenges to be sure, but we took it in stride. And of course we thank our client for their patience. 🙏. Experience has taught us clients ultimately don’t remember in the end if it was on-time…only whether if it’s great.

Nearing the finish line on another bath project in Lincoln Park this week. The custom glass mosaic tile was a labor of love for our tile installer to execute. Slow and methodical and perfect in the end (although Yovo may have had a few choice words for us during the install of it and we don't blame him). The custom blue vanity is offset with a thick mitered quartz top and brass accents. 😍

Love it when a plan starts to come together. These supply chain delays are no joke, and the lead times for materials are insane right now, but we are grateful to have so many projects in the works and beginning to near the finish line on many. This master bath in Andersonville is going to be a stunner once it is complete. The marble detailed wainscoting boxes are being finished this week.

For our kitchen projects, we love the fun pops of color we can layer in with these prints from shown here. Her loose floral interpretations are a favorite of ours. We also have Late Summer Blooms hanging in our design studio. You can order one of her prints direct and frame it to lean on your own kitchen backsplash. It's like having a fresh and vibrant bouquet of flowers on display all year long.
