I’d like to introduce myself to my new followers and talk about the story behind the brand.

I’m Diana, the creator and founder of Mota Magick. Years ago, I was never one to take the time to take a relaxing bath. Like most people, I’ve lived in survival mode most of my life. Besides going to therapy, educating myself about trauma, and doing the inner work, taking baths had allowed me to feel safe enough to feel my feelings and to start discovering my authentic self. It was one of the tools I used to learn how to start loving myself and prioritizing my own needs after becoming a mother. After being inspired by a farmer’s market about five years ago, I started making CBD bath bombs for myself and as gifts for others. It’s a creative outlet and I enjoy hearing how these plant based products have also benefited others to relax and unwind.

​A few years ago, I started having pain and numbness down my left shoulder to my hands. Having worked twenty years in a strenuous healthcare career, I realized that taking care of others for so long was beginning to affect my own physical and mental health, and I thought “who is going to take care of me if I break down?”. It was a wake up call for some serious self-care, compassion, and life-changing decisions if I want to be healthy and be there for myself and my family. I also took Level one and two of Reiki, to reap the benefits of energy healing from the inside out.

I created the Magick balm to help relieve pain, soreness, and inflammation from my shoulder without the use of any pharmaceuticals. After much relief, I started giving it away to friends and family to help ease their pain. The balm offered many people the relief they needed and soon after I was highly encouraged to start selling it.

​Our bodies communicate to us and it’s up to us to listen and claim our power back by loving ourselves unconditionally. We all have the innate ability to heal ourselves. It’s absolutely necessary to do the inner work. When we heal ourselves, we can inspire others to do the same. Plant medicine can be used as a tool to assist our journey of self-love and discovery.

May is Mental Health Awareness month so I would like to share my story and some things I personally do to help improve my mental health.

I have struggled with my mental health since a teenager. Back then it was not spoken about or if it was then you would be judged for just being crazy. I was diagnosed with depression and anxiety at 19. Started taking meds but I didn’t understand what was going on inside myself. I had suicidal thoughts on a daily and zero self-respect. I did a lot of things I’m not proud of, searching for someone or something that would fill the void I was feeling inside. I was always told it was just all in my head and I had nothing to be depressed about. Friends and family would tell me that I was just looking for attention and to feel sorry for me. I was emotionally, mentally, and physically abused and neglected.

Looking back, I did have a victim mentality. I was letting life happen TO me instead of FOR me. It wasn’t until I hit rock bottom at 27 that I had had enough and was desperate to feel better. I went to the self-help section in the library and checked out a book called “Change your brain, change your life” by Dr. Amen. (continued in comments)
