Just released point-in-time count data revealed a 25% increase in homelessness in Chicago in 2023 — not including the more than 14,000 migrants who sought shelter. More investment is needed to expand proven solutions to homelessness.

Renaissance is thrilled that an appeals court judge today reversed a lower court’s decision and that votes for Bring Chicago Home will be counted! Please consider voting for this ballot measure to reform the real estate transfer tax and create a robust and sustainable funding source for affordable housing.

Bring Chicago Home Will Stay On The Ballot After City's Appeal Votes on the question will now be counted. The referendum asks voters to decide if the city should implement increases in real estate transfer taxes on property sales over $1 million to fund homelessness prevention efforts.

There is still hope! Get out and vote!

City Files Appeal In Bring Chicago Home Lawsuit The referendum will remain on the primary ballot but votes won't be counted unless an appeals court reverses the decision.

We are happy to say that in 2024 Renaissance will add more than 140 units of housing for unhoused Chicagoans! Most of the people that we will serve only have the clothes on their back. The Renaissance Associate Board has started a gift registry that includes cleaning supplies, toiletries, and bedding, items to help make these new units into a home. We are delighted to celebrate some truly wonderful news: more than 1,000 chronically homeless people have been housed through the Flexible Housing Pool (FHP)! Renaissance has been a key partner in the FHP since 2019, providing street outreach, permanent housing placement, and case management to help individuals and families regain stability and improve health outcomes.
