Viewpoint: It’s Time to Tap into Labor’s Fortress of Finance Despite the recent upsurge in worker militancy, union membership and density have been declining for decades. But a close look at labor’s finances suggests that unions have the economic resources to potentially reverse this decline. Standard explanations for labor’s decline blame our grossly unf...

A giant step forward made possible by thousands and thousands of us joining together and speaking out… THIS IS HUGE:
"Workers United and Starbucks share a commitment to developing a productive relationship in the best interests of Starbucks partners. During mediation discussions last week over ongoing brand and IP litigation, a constructive path forward emerged on the broader issues of the future of organizing and collective bargaining at Starbucks.
To build on that path, Workers United and Starbucks have agreed to begin discussions on a foundational framework to achieve collective bargaining agreements for represented stores and partners, the resolution of litigation between the union and the company, including brand litigation, and a fair process for workers to organize. As a sign of good faith, Starbucks has agreed to provide workers represented by Workers United with credit card tipping and benefits announced by the company in May of 2022.
While there is plenty of work ahead, coming together to develop this framework is a significant step forward and a clear demonstration of a shared commitment to working collaboratively and with mutual respect."

We talked about Solidarity this week in La Huelga, and now we're asking you to take action...
Every other week we send over an update on our work and almost daily though our Instagram and TikTok the world can see what we're up to.
What we don't show often is the hard work behind the scenes to make it all happen.
- The filming and editing of our content
- The process of writing the newsletter
- The needing to learn how our accounting works
- The grantwriting and the work that goes into that before an application is sent
- The negotiating rates on necessities we need to make the office function
- The costs of fully covering healthcare for our staff.
In true Midwestern form, I won't keep you too long. I'm asking for you to put your solidarity into action and donate $100 today to help us keep this org going strong. A monthly donation of $20 would be awesome too. We understand times are tough, trust us we're feeling it, so any little bit helps. Thank you!!
