REMINDER: HOLIDAY SCHEDULE FOR GARBAGE PICKUP

Please note these important changes to the refuse and recycling schedule due to the Independence Day Holiday.

There will be No refuse collection on Thursday July 4th. All city- collected refuse will be serviced on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Residents should ensure all black refuse carts are accessible throughout the week of collection, not solely on their regular day of collection.

Additionally, residents should be advised of potential changes to blue cart recycling collection based on their service provider.

(1) The Department of Streets and Sanitation (Zones 2 and 4) will collect recycling Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday. Residents should ensure all blue recycling carts are accessible throughout the week of collection.

(2) Privately provided blue recycling cart service, LRS (Service Areas 1,3,5 and 6) will collect recycling services as scheduled Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday with Friday collections being moved to Saturday. There will be No recycling cart service collection on Thursday, July 4th. Residents with private service should continue to put out blue recycling carts throughout the week, according to their typical schedule.

The 90th Street Program is scheduled for corrective work to be completed on sidewalks, driveways, and curbs within the next two weeks by the Department of Transportation. Following the completion of these corrections, the streets will undergo resurfacing. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Happy's Liquor has long been a hub for negative activity on 79th Street and Cottage. However, due to the tragic loss of life at the store, I will be closing the location permanently. Meanwhile, I am working with Commander Tate, the city's Department of Business Affairs and Consumer Protection, local pastors, community leaders, and the city's law department to proceed with the city’s legal process. I will keep you updated on any developments.
