It's Thursday, and we are Getting to Know HSG, with Treasurer Evan Sully! Evan is a sophomore majoring in Finance. Evan calls Frisco, Texas home and is most looking forward to doing his best to get funding for HSG events such as the Honors Ball and Ice Skating. Aside from HSG, Evan is a Chicago Quarter Mentor is apart of CRU Student Ministries, and will be studying abroad in China over winter break. Meet Evan!

Happy November, its time for Get to Know HSG with academic committee co-chair Helen Kinskey! Helen is a junior from Cincinnati, Ohio and is majoring in elementary education. When asked about her outlook on the 2016-17 year for HSG, she is most looking forward to getting down at the Honors ball, like always. Aside from HSG, Helen can be found in her position as a Political Activist for DePaul Future Teachers Club. Meet Helen!

We're back with Get to Know HSG with Academic Committee Co-chair Zoe Tingas! Zoe is a sophomore majoring in Business Management with a Peace, Justice, and Conflicts minor. Zoe comes to DePaul from Des Plaines, Illinois and is most looking forward to seeing her Honors Program homies at meetings. A fun fact about Zoe is that she is an ordained minister. Meet Zoe!

In Wednesday's edition of Get to Know HSG, we have our Vice President Emily Melbye. Emily is a sophomore double-majoring in Political Science and Spanish. Emily calls St. Louis Park, Minnesota home, and is most looking forward to the service events that HSG will be hosting. In addition to her position with Honors Student Government, Emily interns for Senator Richard Durbin and works with I.M.P.A.C.T. DePaul. Meet Emily!

It's Tuesday, and it's time for Get to Know HSG with Social Chair, Aurora Lawrie. Aurora is a sophomore majoring in Cello Performance. Aurora hails from Sedona, Arizona and is most excited for the Honors Ball! When not involved in her rigorous rehearsal schedule, Aurora acts as a Chicago Quarter Mentor and a Morale Captain for DemonTHON. Meet Aurora!

Happy Monday! Today's Get to Know HSG, features Honors Floor Rep Michelle Blahnik! Michelle is a freshman double-majoring in Sociology and Communications & Media. Michelle comes to DePaul from La Grange, Illinois and is most looking forward to helping plan the Honors Ball! Aside from her duties on the third floor of Seton, Michelle is also an EDGE Team Member in the Office of Religious Diversity. Meet Michelle!

Happy Friday! Today's Get to Know HSG is all about newsletter editor Erin Roux! Erin is a sophomore double-majoring in English and Creative Writing. Erin hails from Champaign, Illinois, and is looking forward to creating a really sick newsletter every quarter. When not involved with the honors community, Erin enjoys acting as well as working and doing improv at the iO theater. Meet Erin!

It's Thursday and time for another Get to Know HSG with service committee co-chair MK Verdun. MK is a senior marketing major from Johnston, Iowa. MK is most looking forward to planning some rad service events for the honors community. Besides her role with HSG, MK is also involved with service fraternity Alpha Phi Omega, is a student assistant in the Honors office, and can be found at the Lego Store working as a brick specialist. Meet MK!

In Wednesday's edition of Get to Know HSG, we have our Service Committee co-chair, Sofea Lee! Sofea is a sophomore accountancy major, and comes to DePaul from Penang, Malaysia. Sofea is most looking forward to connecting Honors students to communities of Chicago through volunteering. When Sofea is not planning awesome service opportunities, she can be found in the Honors office as a student assistant, or acting as Treasurer for Ascend and Students Organize for Syria. Meet Sofea!

Next in our series of Get to Know HSG is Honors Floor Rep Ahjay Stivland! Ahjay is a Freshman double majoring in Chemistry and Math. He calls Plymouth, Minnesota home, and is most excited about the Honors theatre outing to Romeo and Juliet. Ahjay also devotes his time to Math Club and Gospel Choir. Meet Ahjay!

Introducing, "Get To Know HSG", an effort to acquaint the Honors Program Community with our HSG Officers. Over the next few weeks, follow along with us as we spotlight our wonderful student leaders!

First, Meet our President Tom Rietz! Tom is a Junior, double majoring in Political Science and Economics. Tom reigns from Plainfield, Illinois and when asked what he was most looking forward to for this year, he said The Honors Ball! Aside from his duties with HSG, Tom is a resident advisor in Belden-Racine and formerly interned at the Chicago Council on Global Affairs. Meet Tom!

On Friday, September 30, 2016, 25 Honors Program students took part in the annual Heart Association's Heart Walk along the lakefront. Despite an overcast grey day, the team raised over $825 and enjoyed walking with the team.

We would like to thank everyone who came out to our first Honors Student Government meeting of the academic school year.

Going with this years Honors Program theme, "What must be done?", those who attended the meeting participated in a poster making contest. Groups of students depicted the theme using a quote accompanied by a picture.

The finished products are below, please "like" the one you enjoy the most! The poster with the most "likes" will be deemed the winner. The "likes" will be tallied, and the winning poster will be announced at the next Honors Student Government Meeting (9/23 @ 12:30)!

Congrats to our senior HSG board members! They celebrated the end of their college careers at the Honors Program Senior Gala this afternoon.
