Winston Allen, former military and IRS criminal investigator and ageless triathlete, runs one more lap for DePaul, establishing a criminology scholarship at the university where a fleeting athletic foray in 1950 made a lasting impression.

World War II veteran Jerome Even (BUS '51) earned a Purple Heart medal for injuries sustained during the attack on Pearl Harbor. He went on to graduate from DePaul in 1951 and built a career as an accountant. His son, Jim Even (BUS '78), an alumnus and learning specialist in the Center for Students with Disabilities, says his father's military service and subsequent career in accounting helped shape his own life's journey.

Now, thanks to an Illinois program that returns Purple Heart medals to their rightful owners, Jim recently held his father's medal for the first time.

🎭 Greece Summer Acting Intensive (GSAI) ➡️ GSAI is a 17-day actor-training program that also immerses students in the culture, history and mythology of Greece. Students live, train and create together on the island of Hydra. They take master classes and field trips to ancient sites. You'll learn the basics of terrarium-making and tropical houseplant care, then choose from a selection of tropical plants and accent decor to create your own tropical terrarium. With the help of master gardener and botanical artist, Leelee from Leelee's Garden, you'll get step-by-step help as you make your unique garden under glass.

Join the Center for World Catholicism & Intercultural Theology for a hybrid livestreamed World Catholicism Week event April 12 and 13!

We often hear of the contrast between an "enchanted" global South and an increasingly secular and "disenchanted" North. At the same time, however, Pope Francis has revived idolatry critique, focused especially on the false gods of the supposedly secular political economies dominated by the global North. But idolatry critique can be dangerous; colonial powers frequently denigrated indigenous people as idolaters in need of conversion. This conference takes up these issues, exploring the question: How is the language of idolatry and enchantment used—and misused—in today's world?
