I’ve been a realtor for almost 20 years. To uphold the professionalism and dignity of being a global real estate advisor has been of the utmost importance.
It’s a privilege to be installed on the Board of Driectors, as the incoming Public Policy Chair!
Come celebrate with me and the Chicago real estate community at the Chicago REALTORS®’ 141st Inaugural Gala. (Link for tickets in the comments)
I went in Marshall’s to buy hangers, then I saw this. I hear you, God. I see you. Right on time…
Two more closed! The stories behind the pictures. Real people, real stories, real impact…
1. I assisted the seller in the sale of their family home. The home he grew up in as kid. The memories. It was a journey to get to the finish line… 3 contracts 😵💫. In the end, the grandchildren benefit from the profit of generational wealth!
2. First time buyer moving here as the result of a job promotion. Another journey…the original lender could not approve the condo association. 🤔. I knew two units had recently closed. I tracked down one of the lenders who closed the last sale, explained the situation, got everything in motion. 2 weeks later, my client is a new homeowner!
Two more closings done!
One with a million dollar view on Lakeshore Drive on the Gold Coast….
And one very special …. the first Dantzler family home on Wells St has a new owner - a very successful young woman in her early 20s killing it in her career and her own business. I manifested this. It’s bittersweet, but we are thrilled to pass the torch. End of an era and a beautiful start of a new chapter.
We’ve had a house full over the last 2 weeks. It was loud, crazy, chaotic and so much fun!
As we head into the 4th of July, these last few closings remind me of the American dream …
1. A person who was once homeless as a teenager, put himself through school, now an executive buying a $1M condo on one of the most expensive streets in America
2. A retiree who told me that the sale of his two flat building was the reason they can now have a very comfortable retirement. They originally thought the sale was “too small for me”. I am here to serve. He took me to lunch and told me fountain in his yard is now named after me. 🥹🙏🏾
3. The buyer whose family is committed to building their portfolio through real estate. My 3rd transaction with them. They are ready for #4.
4. I met this seller when he was single and assisted him in buying his first condo. Fast forward- he got married and now has a beautiful new baby. I helped them purchase a home a few months ago; now sold his first condo. Full circle.
5. Sold the home of a well known community leader and organizer. The street is now named after her… “Shirley Newsome Way”.

We are outside in FEBRUARY in CHICAGO at night with no coats on! It was 70 degrees today 🙌🏾
Eric got an invite to the Dusable Black History Museum for the State Treasurers black history month event. The grand daughter of the great Gwendolyn Brooks recited one of her poems. She told the story of how Gwendolyn Brooks and Margaret Burroughs (founder of Dusable) were in a poetry club together at the Southside Community Arts Center. Gwendolyn saw a man come in and Margaret yelled out that Gwendolyn wanted to meet him. They got married. I love stories like this.
2023 was a crazy year in real estate… sky high rates, rising inventory, buyers/sellers on edge… even still I ranked among the top producing realtors in Chicago. 🙏🏾 No small feat!

1st closing - assisted buyers is securing vacant land in Bronzeville as they begin their vision for development on the block.
2nd closing - assisted buyers in negotiating an amazing deal on a duplex with a spectacular view in Streeterville.
Who is ready? Let’s set up a call!
It’s been a week! This time last week, I had no presents and absolutely not prepared for Christmas.
Then two days later, I tested positive for COVID 🙄😫😵💫. What a mess.
I came out of quarantine yesterday and finally started getting in the Christmas spirit.
It all came together… just the three of us.
Merry Christmas!!
Last two closings of the year🙏🏾
It’s been a rough week. Rough!
And one of my clients made my day by sending me a card and gift basket. So very thoughtful.
It’s a blessing to be of service; and so nice to be appreciated.
One of the things I love most about this business is I get to meet the most amazing people. It’s such a blessing when clients become friends.
I met and Boren Novakovic over 12 years ago when they were assigned to me as corporate relocation clients. We hit it off and remained in touch over the years.
Jenny is an amazing chef and this year she decided to gift us all by allowing us to purchase boxes of her gourmet cookies!
I stopped by between appointments to pick up mine and give Jenny a big hug.
The real estate business can be really hard, stressful, and downright depressing at times. But days like this, I’m reminded why I love being a realtor.
Thanks, Jenny! The cookies are amazing! You really need your own shop.
This is by far one of the most inspiring things I have ever watched… ever.
I watched it w my daughter over Thanksgiving break. Even she was blown away. I always tell her all the time that anything is possible and this story is 100% that.
You don’t have to like his movies or plays, but Tyler Perry has earned his respect. I did know the magnitude of it all. An astounding story of making something (billions) out nothing and never giving up.
Watch it!
When I prepare to take a listing, I do alot of research including making sure the property tax bill is accurate.
About half of the people who live in their homes as their primary residences (not investment properties or 2nd homes) have not filed for a homeowners exemption and are entitled to a refund of some portion of what they have paid.
To check, go to www.cookcountytreasurer.com
Then click “Pay online for free”
Then click “ Search by address” if you don’t know your PIN #
When you see your property, verify your name matches as the owner, then click “View Your Property Tax Information”
Then scrolll down to “Are There Any Overpayments on Your Pin”. If you have a refund available, click “apply now”
Then scroll down to “Have you received your exemptions in these years”. If you have lived in your home for the years listed, then the line for “Homeowner Exemption” should say “YES”.
If is says “NO”
Then click “Apply for a missed exemption”
You may get a refund of some portion you paid!
Any questions, feel free to reach out. Happy to be of service.
A buyer client had to cancel an appointment at the last minute. No worries. It happens.
They were very alogetic then shared one of them was just diagnosed with a debilitating disease. I just let him share. It was devastating news.
As we go into this week of Thanksgiving, let us all remember to be kind, be gracious, be compassionate… you never know what someone is going through.
It’s been a rough week, but I’m still filled with a grateful heart. ❤️
Real estate chronicles … things that make say “Hmmmm”🤔
Touring a property. A very expensive property at that.
One sink with 2 faucets. So I stood in front of the sink to determine if two people can stand in front of this sink to use both the faucets at the same time….
What say you? Innovative or weird?
Someone just said “Are you busy with the interest rates high?”
Yep, very busy actually.
People still need and want a home. These rates aren’t forever.
If you are curious about the market, I’m happy to chat.
One step ahead…
As a realtor, real estate advisor, and co-owner of a construction company that does community development; I have to stay one step ahead.
Tonight, Eric and I attended a listening session with the City of Chicago Department of Housing, as they wanted feedback from stakeholders on the 5 Year plan. I think we shared more than they want to hear 😐
After, we had to pick up Gabriella from dance. We were early, so we sat at the bar next door. I chatted up the bartender and somehow ended up w/ free shots 🤪🤷🏾♀️🥃
You know one of the best parts of this crazy, stressful business is meeting amazing people who you know will become friends. I had the great pleasure of assisting these clients navigate their move from the suburbs to the city. It wasn’t easy, but we got it done. I’m so grateful for the kind words he shared🙏🏾.
I joined the Professional Standards committee of the Chicago Association of REALTORS many years ago because I knew it was important to be an advocate for elevating public perception of realtors. I was the Chair of this committee for the last 2 years.
I’ve been a realtor for almost 18 years and I could write a book about my crazy experiences 😳🤦🏾♀️🤫
Today, was an all day training. It’s my duty, my pleasure, my responsibility, to be of service.
Today - insane. I ate “lunch” at 5p. My Friday night is a date w my laptop. 😵💫
BUT… yesterday was lovely!
Awards luncheon for the best of the best w the top sales for Q2 at the fabulous Miru inside the St Regis. Food = amazing.
Then I took my favorite mini-me to a play - The Nacirema Society. Hysterical! We had a blast. It’s the last weekend. Go see it before it leaves.
Here’s a little story…
Last Sunday I got an email from a colleague in my office saying his business partner is co-hosting a fundraiser brunch for Senator Corey Booker, only 25 people for brunch at a private residence and has 5 tickets left. I closed the email. Hour later, something in my spirit tells me to open it back up and reply I’ll go. The guy calls me, gives me the details.
Brunch was today. I got up this morning and re-printed that letter I keep in my office written by Jackie Kennedy to her late brother-in-law Senator Ted Kennedy; petitioning for my Dad.
My Dad has been very sick this week and very heavy on my heart; so I thought this is an opportunity for me to ask the Senator to get this letter to Caroline Kennedy (daughter of Jackie Kennedy).
Senator Booker arrives at the brunch. Makes his rounds. Comes to me, compliments my dress ☺️. I pull out the letter and tell the story. He loves it says he will try to get to the letter to Caroline.
That letter reminds me, every single day, to ASK for what you want; to take every risk, to show up and be prepared.
In addition to that, I met some pretty amazing people today. I walked knowing no one in that room. I left with some great connections and hopfully some new friends.
Two closings this week = WIN.
