Food for thought and self-reflection:
"Between stimulus and response there's a space. In that space lies our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom." -Viktor Frankl
Happy Pride Month. What does LGBTQ Pride mean for you?
Virtually everything that is “wrong with you” began as a compensation, as a survival mechanism in childhood.
Therefore, it deserves nothing but respect and compassion.

“To meditate is not to run away from life but to take the time to look deeply into ourselves or into our situation to see what is truly going on. We allow ourselves the time to calm our thinking, to sit, to walk, to breathe—-not doing anything, just going back to ourselves and to what is around us. Then, when we are peaceful and calm, we can take time to look deeply into ourselves and into the situation we are in. When our mind and body are calm we can see the situation more clearly.” —-Thich Nhat Hanh
So grateful for PSYPACT, which gives psychologists the opportunity to practice across state lines (with other participating states).
I have been working with a same-sex female couple for several years, and they are understandably feeling uprooted by the drastic change of a geographical move that they are undergoing in their lives. Being able to provide a sense of continuity as they go through this major change is one of the numerous benefits of being able to provide interstate telehealth services.
Slowing down or stopping can have definite benefits.
All set for another weekend of clinical training:
The NeuroAffective Relational Model for Treating Complex Trauma. Level 2, Module 1.
Two years of the pandemic with no concrete end date has taken a toll on the collective mental health.
The pandemic has caused nearly two years of collective trauma. Many people are near a breaking point. Nearly two years into a pandemic coexistent with several national crises, many Americans are profoundly tense. In the most extreme cases, they’re acting out their anger in public.
Thank you to all who attended our presentation “A Year of Revelation and Revolution” at today’s IPA Convention.
It was honor to be part of the panel with my colleagues Dr. Jenine Chiles and Dr. Manisha Dayal.
Food for thought:
Just as our ever-changing breath
Teaches us to let go
A shift in season
Can deeply support the process of release
Whether the coming season
Is marked by budding trees or colorful leaves
By longer days or cooler nights
The earth’s natural cycle of change
Is an invitation to slow down and pay attention
And as the seasons change
We’re presented with an opportunity
To practice letting go
When summer transitions to fall
The trees become a canvas of orange and red
And their leaves slowly shed and float to the ground
We might be inspired to release beliefs
That no longer serve us
As we let go of what hasn’t been working
We create room for what will
New beliefs, new ideas, and new intentions
So contemplate what you’re ready to let go of
It may be an outdated assumption about yourself
Perhaps you’ve been hanging on to remorse
or anger for something long past
Whether it’s a negative thought pattern
An unhealthy habit
Or a challenging relationship
Take a moment now to release
And allow your exhales to support your process
-Tamara Levitt
