A historic building takes you down a path of discovery - in this case discovering the treasure beneath a linoleum floor. What was once a thriving Goldblatt's department store built in 1915, that became a neighborhood furniture store, now becoming home to 4 local retailers, and a community clinic, reveals beautiful red brick.
How much influence do architects have to salvage these types of discoveries? When you have the project schedule and project budget as important driving factors, unplanned tough decisions must be made. To keep or not to keep? (Definitely want to keep it!) What would you do considering the factors that must be weighed?
Architecture is delighted to have been the architect for Aunt Martha's Health & Wellness Kankakee clinic. The 6,000 Sq.Ft. interior renovation meets the APMonarch design trinity to design buildings that look good, feel good and perform great. With an expanded central nurse's station, added exam rooms and efficient overall layout the patient and staff experience is improved.
APMonarch worked closely with Aunt Martha's staff and our engineering consultant, Interface Engineering, Inc., to reduce the building energy use and increase health and wellness and resilience. Through critical design specifications, Aunt Martha's - Kankakee will enjoy the benefits of a very high energy efficiency HVAC system delivering lower utility bills, enhanced comfort, and improved air quality.
Headquartered in the Chicago Loop, Cabrera Capital Markets is an investment bank and institutional brokerage firm serving clients globally. APMonarch was honored to be the architect for their new office. Our approach was to deliver superior design for a superior firm. The space was transformed into a state of the art office with collaborative work areas, open office, elegant private offices and conference rooms thoughtfully branded with images paying homage to the CEO's neighborhood roots.
Architecture that pollinates for a healthier environment. π¦
Remembering the life, work and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
On this we celebrate the work of Freddy Mamani, a Bolivian architect of Aymara descent. He is the creator of Neo-Andean Architecture, a style which features bright colors and bold shapes referencing Aymara design and the ancient Aymara city of Tiwanaku.
Below is a documentary about his work, which can be seen in El Alto (a city with over 70% Aymara residents) and throughout Bolivia.
