An authentic French bakery La Fournette’s products are respectful of the seasons and local produce.
At La Fournette, the Zimmermann’s – with Pierre and his sons in the bakery and Michele directing Front of House operations – wish to recreate their family bakery in Alsace while making it uniquely Chicagoan. The most of the breads are made with natural sourdough starters, a slower process that results in superior flavor and texture.
Meet Oliver, one of our youngest fans (18 months old🥰)
He reminds us why we strive to bake the best and healthiest products every day.
Earning your trust and loyalty is our greatest honor, from the oldest to the youngest. Thank you, Oliver—we love you! ❤️

On Wednesday, UNESCO added the baguette to the United Nations list of intangible world cultural heritage!
We are extremely proud that the baguette is getting this status as our team of bakers has been crafting them daily for 10 years in Chicago!
They have been doing so in the most traditional way that has been passed down through generations in the small family bakery we had in Alsace: with a long fermentation process, without any additives or dough conditioners, and with its classic shape and size.
Today we are thankful for our amazing customers that have made waking up early to bake bread and pastries for the past 10 years so gratifying!
We are also extremely thankful for our team that has worked incredibly hard this holiday season!
Thanks to them our specialties can be present on the dinner table of many families today.
Our store will be closed today but we will reopen Friday at 7am.
