Come on out tonight
Please be mindful and not park in the funeral homes parking lot tonight. Thank you!
Come on out for the party
On Saturday the 25th The Chicago Fire Department had its last day with a great man. Chief "Mo" Rodriguez. Finishing up 37 years of service. And on that day his first run was a fire.
The amount of people that came through E95s quarters was a testament to his career. Mo's knowledge and experience will truly be missed but he made sure he passed it down. His 37 years of service were spent on some of the best fire companies and Battalions in the city.
At any scene he took care of his crews and kept them safe but helped them work. Always on the radio letting you know if you were winning, losing or it was time to get out. If you heard Mo box a fire, you knew you had a worker!
Mo always worked along side his crews helping advance lines, pick up line and get everyone ready for the next one. best picture in this bunch is a 37 year member, a battalion chief changing out a candidates bottle because it needed to get done while his crews were all working. Never one to stand around, always the one to help and when all was done, always one to teach and learn from each job.
Happy retirement Mo, You will be always missed and forever talked about! In the words of chief Mo...... "GET IN THERE!!"
Yesterday we said Happy retirement to another great man. Battalion Chief Barry Temple ended his 37 year career with the Chicago fire department. Barry was also a member of The United States Marline Corps.
The turnout of family, fire department members and fellow Marines is a testament to the respect, loyalty and friendship this man has built through his lifetime. His friendship, wisdom and leadership will truly be missed but never forgotten.
Whether present or not Barry had your back. At a fire you knew you were safe. He would never let anything happen to his members. And if he was unsure, he was right along side of you making sure all was safe.
Never a man to criticize and always a man to teach. A favorite quote, "Its not that you made the wrong choice, you just didn't make the best one"
Thank you for your service to our country and our department. Have a happy, long safe retirement sir! You have earned it!

Danny is a Chicago Police Officer who was shot while off duty this past weekend. After playing in a softball fundraiser tournament for cancer, Dan was shot in the back, leaving him paralyzed.
Dan is an Army Veteran and 7 year member of Chicago Police Department. His family has served our nation and the City of Chicago for decades.
Dan is also the older brother to one our very own members of Truck 27.
Please keep Dan, his family and friends in your prayers.
If you can help in any way and donate to his Go Fund Me page, it would help more than you know to offset some of the costs Dan and his fiancé will have to endure.
Thank you!!!

Lieutenant Scott Gillen, 37 - Truck 27
Chicago Fire Department. Chicago, IL
At 2:38 AM, Truck 27 was dispatched to assist Ambulance 37 at an accident at 11400 South Bishop Ford Expressway. Upon arrival, Truck 27 positioned itself to protect both the ambulance and the entire accident scene from the flow of traffic. The apparatus was positioned to block the inside and center traffic lanes. Two state police cars were positioned behind the ladder truck in a further attempt to divert traffic. According to the driver of Truck 27, Gillen was retrieving a piece of equipment from the rear of the apparatus when a civilian automobile illegally crossed into the center lane and ran over a line of flares in an attempt to slip by traffic to cut in front of a tractor trailer that was traveling in the outside lane. The automobile struck the tractor trailer on the front passenger side, causing the car to rotate in a counterclockwise manner. The car struck Gillen and pinned him against the rear bumper of the fire truck. Gillen suffered multiple injuries to his lower extremities. . His legs were crushed in the collision, and he had lost a substantial amount of blood. He was transported by the University of Illinois Hospital helicopter to Christ Hospital where he died 10 hours later from his injuries. The driver of the car that struck Lieutenant Gillen was under the influence of alcohol and was driving on a suspended driver’s license. He was later charged with reckless homicide. There were no injuries in the original collision. Lieutenant Gillen had been promoted to lieutenant just two weeks prior to his death. The Chicago fire commissioner was quoted as saying "I have a hard time calling this an accident, this was a crime, an absolute crime". As a result of this tragedy, "Scott's Law" was created and passed in the state of Illinois.
It is with deep sadness and sorrow to inform you of the passing away of Chicago Firefighter MaShawn Plummer Engine 94. Please keep His Family, CFD Family & Friends in your prayers.🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
