I have failed so many times in my life it’s hard to keep track of them all….

But one thing I can say I have never done is quit….

I was lucky because I was taught really early in life that failing doesn’t make me a failure….failing is just a part of success or of mastering something…..

The only way anyone is truly a failure is if they give up on what they are working to achieve and particularly if they give up at the first sign of struggle or hardship….

I would not be where I am or where I am going, if I didn’t have failure to teach me how to succeed….

Stop being afraid of failing and go out there and make sure you are not giving up on your goals and dreams….

Being fit over 50 is now something that I get to live as a role model and not just something I would say to clients for the last 30+ years….
Being a type of “Fitness OG” has let me see so many fitness trends and fads but the one thing that hasn’t changed in the formula for getting in shape is the need for more Self Discipline versus the need for Motivation….
Too many people still think that motivation is what will save them when it’s discipline that will play that role…
Do what you need to do for 1 day, then do it again the next day, and just keep repeating that process until you have strung together a week, then a month, then 6 months, then a year…..don’t think of anything else except doing your water, nutrition and workout right for that one day….and just have the discipline to keep repeating it as many days you can….

I will keep training people online but it’s been nice having a fitness center to come to a few times per week….
Seeing people in person is not really necessary to get the right info to them but little touches like getting their weights and getting things set up and broken down for them….those make a real difference with the whole experience for clients….and from what I gather, it’s not a common experience for a lot of them. So if it makes me stand out with the customer experience crowd, then great….

2 years ago, I lost 5 separate locations all at once due to the pandemic hitting. I pivoted to doing online training and found great success and satisfaction from helping so many people around the country, all while being able to be around my boys more.
But as we know, life is fluid, so when the chance came to create a new HQ for Unicus Fitness, I decided to go with the flow.
Now this location is only for the people of this particular building in downtown chicago, but for me, it’s a big step forward for myself and what I want my business to become.
Never give up at anything because life can turn on a dime…..just stay ready at all time….

Too many people still think they don’t need to workout because they can still fit in their old clothes….as if that is the sole reason anyone should move their bodies with exercise.

Don’t fall into this trap of deceiving yourself as to why you don’t exercise. It’s better just to admit you don’t want to do it….no real shame in that. It’s your body and your life so in the end it’s up to you.

But you workout so you can be a stronger, better version of yourself that will be there for those you love and who love you. Everything else is superfluous….

Working out, to me, is still one of the main catalysts for recreating the fountain of youth. Building muscle and being strong makes you independent for longer than the average person who doesn’t work out.
Stimulating white blood cells, T cells and Killer cells has proven to be an overall good thing.

When I was younger, working out only to look good for the beach or for attracting a mate was all I thought about, and I attracted that type of client.

But as I look at my client base now, it has evolved into people who mostly want to stay independent and to be around for their kids and grandkids as long as possible or to keep their immune system as strong as possible.

Don’t limit your thinking of what working out will do for you and why you need it. It might be too late before you realize you should have been doing it a long time ago….

Don’t dismiss something because of a limited way of thinking and while you are at it, don’t limit your thinking….
