We're on a mission to save women's lives from breast & ovarian cancer by empowering them to live proactively at a young age.
Today, we proudly announce our $525,000 financial investment and additional capacity-building investment in our second cohort of Mission Partners and the initiatives we will be working to deepen and expand between June 2023-June 2024:
TOUCH, The Black Breast Cancer Alliance: Bright Pink will support TOUCH as they expand For the Love of My Gurls, tapping into their strong networks with a specific focus on reaching HBCUs and young, Black mothers to educate, equip and empower 500,000 young Black women to be proactive with their breast health
Nueva Vida: Bright Pink will support Nueva Vida as they continue to standardize De Madres a Hijas and position it for nationwide replicability, pioneering this intergenerational intervention that centers on community-based, mother-daughter programming to best meet the needs of an underserved Latina population.
FORCE: Bright Pink will support FORCE as it continues to steward and expand the PALs program, enabling a diverse cohort of community advocates to push for state legislative and policy change, and will aid in completing a financial impact study to quantify the fiscal impact of improved coverage and access to preventive services.
Know Your Lemons: Bright Pink will support Know Your Lemons as they develop and launch a partnership program that will make their life-saving tools, including their Webby-Award winning app, available to 300,000 more young women annually through sharing of resources with peer organizations and companies.
Wisdom Study: Bright Pink will support WISDOM, a nationwide study out of UCSF aiming to personalize each women’s breast screening and prevention schedule, to develop, test and implement a breast screening communication campaign that will empower a diverse cohort of young women to join WISDOM, learn their breast cancer risk, and contribute to better personalized breast healthcare
We cannot wait for the year ahead as we continue to work to reduce health disparities and ensure the best breast and ovarian care for young women.
Join us & in our mission to empower by following our movement 💕
Black Breast Cancer is a different disease as Black women have a 41% higher mortality rate than white women and a 39% higher recurrence rate.
And since Black Breast Cancer is different, we know that Black Breast Health must look different too.
That is why we are so proud to have supported our Mission Partner Touch, The Black Breast Cancer Alliance in launching an education movement solely focused on Black Breast Health, targeting young women ages 18 to 35 who do not have a cancer diagnosis and aren't even thinking about breast cancer. It is imperative that young Black Women understand their risk for breast cancer and take action.

One of the reasons ovarian cancer is often diagnosed at such a late stage is that the symptoms are vague & confused for other issues. The simple question, “could it be my ovaries?” could save your life.
Today marks the start of National Ovarian Cancer Awareness month, the perfect moment to remind you of the signs & symptoms of how ovarian cancer can present itself. If you notice any of these changes that persist or worsen for more than a couple weeks, be sure to visit a provider and ask, “could it be my ovaries?” It could save your life.
Our Board of Directors gathered this morning in Chicago to collaborate and strategize on how we can continue to accelerate and deepen the impact of our mission. So great to be together after several years on zoom!

We are thrilled to welcome Dr. Lee Gibbs to our Board of Directors. Dr. Gibbs is an accomplished Research Director at Private Health Management, where he has been instrumental in developing cancer care management and risk advisory solutions, building relationships with molecular diagnostic companies, and creating health equity solutions. He is passionate about finding solutions that remove barriers to genetic testing, cancer screening, and precision medicine for underrepresented and underserved populations.
“I am excited to join Bright Pink’s Board of Directors and have the opportunity to shape its work as a Venture Philanthropy Fund while deepening Bright Pink’s focus on health equity alongside our Mission Partners," Dr. Gibbs said.
We couldn't be more excited to welcome you to the Bright Pink family, Dr. Gibbs.
Susan G. Komen, the world’s leading breast cancer organization, recently launched Stand for H.E.R. – a Health Equity Revolution, a bold nationwide program to decrease the gap in breast cancer mortality between Black and white women, beginning in the 10 U.S. metropolitan areas where the gaps are the greatest. The program focuses on addressing the underlying causes of inequities Black women face across the breast cancer care continuum with concrete actions – including increasing access to quality genetic counseling and testing. Bright Pink is supporting Komen’s long-standing Worship in Pink program as it expands to extend its reach in Houston, one of the 10 cities with the greatest disparities. The expanded Worship in Pink faith-based initiative will combat disparities in genetic counseling, testing, and preventive care by training trusted volunteer Ambassadors in the church to provide education on family health history and risk, providing free genetic counseling and testing through a trusted medical partner, and connecting families to patient navigation and financial support.
Touch, The Black Breast Cancer Alliance has a mission to drive the collaborative efforts of patients, survivors, advocates, advocacy organizations, health care professionals, researchers, and pharmaceutical companies to work towards the common goal of eradicating Black Breast Cancer. With Bright Pink’s support, the organization will launch a multi-pronged national "awareness to action" campaign that will educate, equip, and empower 250,000 young Black women to be proactive with their breast health.
Nueva Vida is a community organization that fills the gap for culturally sensitive cancer support services for the Latino community in the Washington-Baltimore Metro area. With the invaluable bonds of trust with their clients as the foundation and Bright Pink’s support, Nueva Vida will develop De Madres a Hijas, a first of its kind, community-based, bilingual education initiative where 1st generation Latina mothers and their 2nd generation daughters will learn together about family health history, risk, and genetic counseling and testing.
As the preeminent voice for the hereditary cancer community serving more than one million people nationwide, FORCE has a long history of mobilizing volunteers, providers, and community partners to change national legislation. Bright Pink will support FORCE as they expand their efforts to fight for legislative change at the state level through an initiative that equips a diverse cohort of volunteer advocates to increase coverage and break down barriers to care, increasing access to life-saving preventative services for women at high risk for breast and ovarian cancer.
