Wicker Park has a brand new set of workout bands hanging in the classroom! There are so many ways to utilize resistance bands for warm up, PT, Pilates, and a good old fashioned workout routine!

•Side to side squat walks
•Squat thrusters
- Place band under feet and hold other end in hands, perform thruster
•Leg pulses
•Leg step backs
•Push up to arm side lift

After a tough workout, the glycogen stores in your muscles are all used up, and are in need of replenishment! Incorporating a carbohydrate source, such as rice, bread, bananas, or starchy vegetables, will help you to replenish your stores for your upcoming workout (which helps you perform your best!)
Protein is also a necessary component to the post workout meal. It helps with muscle protein synthesis in the body to rebuild, and repair. Incorporating something high in protein such as meat, eggs, dairy, or soy will help with this process.
What are our favorite post workout snacks?
- muscle milk or core power
- peanut butter banana protein shake
- Chipotle!

With this weeks weather reaching the 90’s (hellooooo summer!) we thought it was time for an important reminder about hydration status when working out, whether outdoors or indoors!
Here are out top 3 tips:
1. The obvious- drink your water continuously! Add fruit, mio, or other low calorie flavor options to help increase your intake throughout the day
2. Electrolytes: Electrolytes play an essential role in hydration status within the cells. Drinks like body armor, Gatorade, and Vitamin Water may be useful to help increase electrolyte intake. All of these drinks have lower calorie options available!
3. Stay well fed! Don’t forget to eat consistently throughout the day when you are spending time outside, working out, or doing outdoor activities
Stay fed, stay hydrated, and stay healthy everyone!
