Fizz & Ginger traces the steps of the 1920s New Yorker nightlife reviewer, Lipstick, as she enters a party in pursuit of a story. Hot on the heels of her rum-running boyfriend Benny, she finds him at The Crossroads, mixed with company she’s never seen before. Old Tom Bullock is in town slinging drinks fresh out of his cocktail book while Marjorie croons the tunes of a lover lost to the Great War. Nellie, a writer for Harlem’s ‘The Messenger’ magazine, is there to support her bohemian best friend Bruce who is necking with a man he shouldn’t be necking with. With a jazz combo, this Chicago premiere pays homage to Lipstick’s reviews from the ‘New Yorker’ archives.

Remembering Sir Andrew Davis | Chicago Symphony Orchestra The Chicago Symphony Orchestra family joins the music world in mourning the loss of English conductor Sir Andrew Davis, a frequent and beloved guest on the podium. He died in Chicago on April 20, 2024, at the age of 80.

We are sad to hear about the passing of Ron Combs, a long-time friend of Performers Music. He was a great musician, teacher and encourager. He taught hundreds and showed how to keep a healthy voice by giving a recital when he was 80. He will be missed!

In conjunction with the 2023 Parliament of the World's Religions in Chicago, Fourth Church and Second Presbyterian Church of Chicago are hosting a series of free noonday organ concerts on themes of global justice and peace. The August 14–18 concerts will be presented by organist Michael Shawgo at 12:00 p.m. at Second Presbyterian (1936 S. Michigan) on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and by John Sherer at Fourth Church at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.

The Tower Chorale is proud to present the annual choral masterworks concert on March 11and 12, 2023. The program will feature Anton Bruckner’s expressive and powerful Mass No. 2 in E-minor. The mass was commissioned in 1866 by the Archbishop of Linz for the dedication of the Votive Chapel of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
