is in town, but we’re having our own Palooza here at McLaughlin Violins. Pictured is a beautiful 2012 cello by Gary Garavaglia. Stop by to see it and join the party!
One of the best parts of my job is taking pictures of gorgeous instruments and bows. This elegant Ouchard was no exception! Émile-Auguste got his start in bow-making with his father Émile-François Ouchard in Mirecourt at the Cuniot-Hury shop. Interestingly, E.A. Ouchard moved to Chicago in 1948 to work for William Lewis & Son for three years!
There’s nothing like the smell of a new violin! This stunning instrument was made by St. Paul-based luthier Marinos Glitsos. Call us at (312) 753-5079 to make an appointment to come and see it!
We’re excited to present for sale a cello by Honoré Derazey! When we first got our hands on it, we could hear its potential, despite old strings and a questionable bridge. Since then, we’ve set it up to our standards and have been blown away by a powerful yet colorful sound. For more information, call or email us before it gets snapped up!
We’re excited to be able to offer this cello by Honoré Derazey. When we first got our hands on this cello, we were blown away by its potential, even with old strings and a bad bridge. Since then, we’ve set it up to our standards and it has exce
We’ve featured a bow by André Vigneron on our page, and today his father, Joseph Arthur, takes center stage. This violin bow circa 1900, accompanied with papers from Kenneth Warren & Son, exemplifies Vigneron’s reputation for producing refined, performance-oriented bows. Our André Vigneron was snapped up before Ryan could say McLaughlin, so don’t lose your chance to see this bow!
Is it a Strad? No... but is it a great violin? Hel yes!
We recently welcomed this 1914 Pierre Hel violin to the shop and it is quite the violin to behold.
Call or email if you'd like to see it in our showroom.
Available now, a violin by David Folland. We're happy to be representing the city of Northfield so well this month! Last week Matt Wehling and now David Folland, two incredible makers from Northfield, Minnesota.
Call us or email to try this incredible Folland violin.
It's really annoying when your friend Matt Wehling sends you a gold mounted bow, because then you don't want to sell it.
While the boss was away we missed him... so we made these - our new McLaughlin Shop Mugs! Having more made now so they will be available soon.
All designs copyright McLaughlin Violins, LLC.
Very excited to have this Tête-Bêche bow from Gilles Nehr! If you're looking for a way to stress less about potentially increasing Pernambuco CITES issues, check out this acacia and titanium bow.
At 82 grams, the acacia stick does not lose any of its suppleness or control while it is busy drawing a massive sound.
Call at (312) 753-5079 or email us to schedule a trial.
Congratulations to our friend and client, Alejandra Switala, on her incredible performance in the Finals of the '23 Sphinx Competition! 🎉
We are so happy for you and inspired by all of your hard work and commitment to true artistry. We can't wait to see what comes next.
If you haven't seen her performance yet, go check it out!
Happy Saturday! Here is some more work by our own Mike Kijowski, an exquisitely made violin that is currently part of our inventory.
Hope everyone has a great weekend. As always, give us a call if you would like to schedule an appointment.
The amount of craftsmanship the goes
into a bridge can be mind-bending, yet such an integral
aspect of a well playing and sounding instrument.
Here is the bridge we cut for our cello by Jordan
Sandquist which we have for sale. The bridge was
actually cut by our own talented Mike Kijowski, he
should get the credit! Call or email us if you would like
to schedule a viewing.
Let's welcome one of the newest members of our inventory! A beautiful violin made by Robert Clemens, seen here enjoying some of Chicago's precious wintertime sunlight.
Available for sale now at McLaughlin Violins. Call or email us to schedule a viewing.
Big congratulations to our very own, Mike Kijowski! This past Sunday Mike ran and completed the Chicago Marathon, and we are so proud of him. Here he is showing off his medal and one of violins.
This just in - a gorgeous cello made by Jason Viseltear, modeled after the Goffriller played by Pablo Casals.
Email or call to make an appointment for viewing.
We Moved! We are very happy to announce the recent move of our Showroom in the Fine Arts Building! You can now find us in Suite 908 of 410 Michigan Ave. Our new Showroom is approximately 25 ½ ft. towards the right from our previous space in Suite 915.
Our time in Suite 915 will always hold a special place in our hearts, but we are very excited to be in Suite 908 moving forward. The room sounds great and the view is fantastic.
Come stop by and see for yourself! As always we invite you to come have a chat or try some instruments over a fresh cup of tea of coffee.
NEW BOW ALERT
A beautiful violin bow by Éric Gagné, a creative mind and an extremely talented maker. Come check it out!

We’re lucky to have the latest violin by at the shop (Guadagnini model). Every time we get a violin from Jordan, we get a lot of inquiries and they usually sell very quickly. Contact us for details/showings.
