Nearly 1 in 10 men experience some form of depression or anxiety but less than half seek treatment. Feeling depressed or anxious is not unusual or shameful.

49% of men feel more depressed than they admit to the people in their life.

77% of men polled have suffered with symptoms of common mental health conditions such as anxiety, stress or depression

40% of men have never spoken to anyone about their mental health

40% of men polled said it would take thoughts of su***de or self-harm to compel them to get professional help

In 2020, men died by su***de 3.88 times more than women. Depression can lead to suicidal thoughts if left untreated.

Juneteenth, stands for “June Nineteenth,” which is a holiday that celebrates the effective end of slavery in the United States.

Two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued by former President Abraham Lincoln, on June 19, 1865, enslaved African Americans in Galveston, TX were told that they were free after Confederate general Robert E. Lee surrendered in Appomattox, VA.

In light of the recent tragic event in Uvdale, Texas, we want to remind everyone that there is ALWAYS someone available to speak with when dealing with emotionally difficult situations. Although we are nearing the end of May, mental health awareness is an ongoing and pivotal effort in recognizing indicators in those struggling with mental wellness. Whether you struggle with your own challenges or you know someone who does, please know that you are not in this alone and there are several resources available to you.

Is this month flying by or is it flying by? 🤯 Nevertheless, the Rising 6 at Westover ARB were delighted by the overwhelming response to retired Sergeant Victor Butler’s birthday card signing. Thank you to all who signed.

Today, however, we’re adding a commemorative sequel to the previous Wednesday’s post. General CQ Brown Jr., the USAF’s 22nd Chief of Staff, caught wind of the request to send birthday cards to retired Sgt Butler, and immediately jumped on board. General CQ Brown Jr. is the first African American appointed as chief of staff in the United States Armed Forces. He is also the first African American to lead any military branch of the United States Armed Forces. The General’s endorsement of sending a birthday card to the soon-to-be centennial Tuskegee Airman proves that Air Force traditions never die: we celebrate and honor those who came before us as well as support those who will eventually replace us. isn’t just reading about great endeavors of those who have gone above and beyond the call of duty, but it’s also about understanding and recognizing what airmen do and have done to pave the way for us to continually serve our great country ✨

We’re asking you 🫡👈to help us celebrate Wingman Wednesday by honoring a very special Airman.
Retired Sergeant Victor W. Butler, the LAST of the surviving Tuskegee Airmen, is celebrating his 100th birthday this month! For his birthday on May 21st, retired Sgt. Butler requested birthday cards in honor of his centennial orbit around the sun. This will be the opportunity to commemorate his achievements that paved the way for current airmen and show your support in wishing a fellow airman a happy birthday.
To sign the birthday card, please check your emails regarding the Rising 6 meeting time or get in touch with supervision this Saturday of the UTA.
