Starting Monday, May 6, you can check out seeds to grow at fist from all three library branches. The first 25 participants will receive a free Ready, Set, Grow Chula Vista! tote bag and a bag of compost from Republic Services.

Computer Basics for Adults is held every Wednesday from 1-2pm at the Civic Center branch. Attendance is free and first come, first served with 12 spots available.

AARP free tax assistance is available this Thursday and Friday at the Civic Center branch on a walk-in basis from 10am-2pm. See link below for more details and what to bring

CIVIC: AARP Free Tax Assistance | Calendar of Events | City of Chula Vista AARP will be providing free tax assistance at the Civic Center Branch beginning February 1. The service will be offered every Thursday and Friday from 10AM to 2PM on a walk-in basis only. For other tax options please call 2-1-1.

All Chula Vista library branches will be closed on Sunday, March 31 for Easter, and Monday, April 1, for Cesar Chavez Day.

The sale of the season is happening NOW! Get your Spring reading started with a new book from our Friends of the Chula Vista Library Book Sale, today until 5pm and tomorrow from 1-3pm. But that's not all, find magazines, games, records, and more! Proceeds from all Friends of the Library Book Sales go directly to supporting the Library's programs and events. At this time, we can only accept cash or check payments, thank you for your understanding!

Love Your Heart Resource Fair will be held this Wednesday, February 28, from 10am-noon at the South Library branch.

The Otay Ranch branch of the Chula Vista Public Library is relocating to a bigger storefront in the Otay Ranch Town Center mall. It will be located at Suite 1103, within walking distance of the current location. The current branch is closed. The newly relocated branch is scheduled to open March 4. The public can visit the South Library branch and Civic Center branch to return library materials, check out materials, enjoy programs, and get passport services.

Our Otay Ranch Branch Library is moving! We will be relocating to a different storefront within the mall (2015 Birch Rd Suite 1103). Library and passport services will be closed beginning Monday, February 5th so that we can complete our relocation. We will strive to minimize our closures and will reopen as soon as possible. Please check our library website or our social media for any updates.
Library materials may be returned to our Civic Center and South Chula Vista Libraries.

Otay Ranch branch is offering Craftlab for children at 4:30pm on Wednesday, January 31.

On Thursday, February 1, South branch will have Ballet Storytime with Inspire Ballet at 10:30am and Civic Center branch will have Gummy Worm Habitats at 6pm.

Check out Mandala coloring and Tea for adults at South branch on Wednesday, January 24 at 4pm, and Cafecito and Crafts for adults at Otay Ranch branch on Thursday, January 25 at 10am.

The San Diego Law Library will be available to answer questions at the Civic Center branch on Wednesday, January 3, from 11am-3pm, and Veterans Village of San Diego will be there on Thursday, January 4, from 10am-2pm.

Oh Happy Days!
We're happy to announce that the Civic Center Bookstore will officially reopen Monday, December 4. 2023. All branches will begin accepting book donations. Special book sales dates will be announced next week.

A free composting event sponsored by Republic Services is this Saturday, November 4, from 8am to noon at the Otay Landfill, 1700 Maxwell Road in Chula Vista. Chula Vista residents need to bring shovels for loading, containers to fill, and the tarps to cover your compost.

Beautify your landscape and improve your garden soil by adding compost to it.

The Chula Vista Public Library is offering the following Halloween-themed activities:
At the Civic Center branch:
Story-time and trick-or-treat, and costume parade (for up to age 7) on Wednesday, October 25 at 5pm.
Spooky Trivia Night at 5pm on Thursday, October 26 which includes drinks, snacks, and prizes.

At the South branch:
Spooky Storytime with furry friend at 11:15am on Wednesday, October 25, with songs, games, trick- or- treating and wearing a costume.

At the Otay Ranch branch:
Boo Boo Bash Storytime at 9:30am on Wednesday, October 25, with stories, songs, and a costume parade.
