The center panel, “the Genius of Alcohol”, was inspired by “the Genius of Water.”
It represents the dimension of irony when there were roughly 200 breweries along the canal in Cincinnati, and the Temperance movement when many Americans believed drinking was immoral and a threat to the nation. Atlas holds a globe depicting names of the vices and doom that awaits those who consume alcohol in the Western Hemisphere and the Eastern Hemisphere the names of virtues and glories of abstinence.
It’s a rainy day, come sip some wine and stay dry ☔️
